Confirmed by Disney. :o With Johnny Depp at the Helm [he's also confirmed to be playing the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's 3-D version of Alice in Wonderland]. :o Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom won't be back, but as they saw they show must go on. :( I'd put good money of Geoffery Rush bring back though, and a host of new characters.

 

I hated the 3rd film, but Pirates of the Caribbean was always about Jack Sparrow. Maybe this could be a good announcement? Who knows. Disney of course will be rolling in the money. No word of a release date of yet, but i'd probably say Summer 2011. :o Is all very hush-hush at the moment.

I knew there'd never do a 4th film with Orlando and Keira. This isn't good news tbh, the 3rd film was quite average - especially considering the other 2 are very good. I'll be watching it though of course ^_^

Yeah I know what you mean. But to me the 2nd and 3rd films just seemed rushed. Poor scripting, relied too much on Jack Sparrow, and was just not generally thought out imo. Was a bit like the 2nd and 3rd Matrix films, as they film companies just wanted to capitalise on their success, and knew people would buy into the francise as the 1st film had so much hype about out. Hopefully now though, they can put a lot more thought into the script and fully base the story on Jack Sparrow, without having Will's and Elizabeth's story also to cover.

No Keira Knightley? Sounds like an improvement already.

No No No, this won't work, they should have really called it as a Jack Sparrow movie, something like The Adventures of Jack Sparrow.

They are killing the series. I thought the last one was good, but could have been alot better, the woman who played the sorceress/ voodoo woman (whatever she was) made it for me.

Kerie, Johhny and Orlando where always a decent trio. But tbh, Pirates of the Caribbean 1 is probably one of my favourite Disney movies, but 2 + 3 just didn't cut it for me.

I havent seen the 3rd one but it wasnt that good from what ive heard but ill watch the 3rd one and probs watch the 4th :D love these flims!

Well, it'll be quite interesting without the original cast! I guess we'll see what happens but hopefully it turns out great!

Just make it The Adventures of Jack Sparro.

It'll probably end up being named something like Pirates of the Caribbean 4 - The Adventures of Jack Sparrow

My day's just getting better and better - there's gonna be a PotC film without Orlando Bloom. :cheer:

3 was poor. Maybe thats because i watched it in Spanish :P . The plot was confusing enough but translating it was even more impossible. They talk too fast.

I would have been excited about this if i hadn't seen the 3rd one. It was such a disappointment in comparison to the first 2 which i would rate in my top ten movies.

It's a bad idea.... Especially seeing as how at least half of the original characters wont actually be in it... "The Further Adventures of Jack Sparrow" seems a more appropriate concept, keep the character, but really, the actual POTC story-arc has concluded...

Yeah i see your point, it does seem a bit stupid to keep making more sequels.

 

Sequels hardly ever live up to the awesomeness of the first couple of movies, and this is no exception.

The first film was great, but I found the second and third utterly disappointing.

Hopefully without Orlando and Keira it will become better, but I quite liked them in the other films! :o
