This actual week though gave us ABBA`s GOLD the first time round. As we bought MIKE OLDFIELD`s TUBULAR BELLS II, we found it was just a virtual re-run of the original using new studio technique. We remember that the original in 1974, was the first VIRGIN release. If memory serves me correctly, there was not a Bond film in 1992 but we did have the Best of Bond themes album. Amazing how many Bond themes were not that big hits..i.e. "GOLDFINGER" (21 in 64), "ALL TIME HIGH" (1983), from OCTOPUSSY. Total misses for "MOONRAKER", and "THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN", with themes by SHIRLEY BASSEY (again, this the 3rd time), and of course LULU, with the other one in 1975. The top singles in October 1992: 01 01 EBENEEZER GOODE - SHAMEN 02 04 SLEEPING SATELLITE - TASMIN ARCHER 03 02 IT`S MY LIFE - DR ALBAN 04 11 END OF THE ROAD - BOYS II MEN 05 03 IRON LION ZION - BOB MARLEY 06 15 DRIVE - R.E.M. 07 NE MY NAME IS PRINCE - PRINCE 08 06 BAKER STREET - UNDERCOVER 09 09 MY DESTINY - LIONEL RICHIE 10 05 THEME FROM M.A.S.H - MANIC STREET PREACHERS 11 39 SENTINAL - MIKE OLDFIELD 12 08 FIRE - PRODIGY 13 10 TOO MUCH LOVE WILL KILL YOU - BRIAN MAY 14 07 RHYTHM IS A DANCER - SNAP 15 27 MONEY LOVE - NENEH CHERRY 16 NE LOVE SONG - SIMPLE MINDS 17 38 SOMETIMES LOVE AIN`T ENOUGH - DON HENLEY/PATTI SMYTHE 18 26 I`M GONNA GET YOU - BIZZARE INC. 19 NE ONE MILLION LOVE SONGS - TAKE THAT 20 19 I FEEL LOVE - MESSIAH 21 NE NO ORDINARY LOVE - SADE 22 23 CONNECTED - STEREO MCs 23 48 TETRIS - DR SPIN 24 NE COULD`VE BEEN ME - BILLY RAY CYRUS 25 NE NOT SLEEPING AROUND - NED`S ATOMIC DUSTBIN 26 24 IT`S ONLY NATURAL - CROWDED HOUSE 27 14 BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE - JANET AND LUTHER 28 16 HOUSE OF LOVE - EAST 17 29 NE ROADHOUSE MEDLEY - STATUS QUO 30 12 CRYING GAME - BOY GEORGE 31 40 ANARCHY IN THE UK - SEX PISTOLS 32 13 HAVE YOU EVER NEEDED SOMEONE - DEF LEPPARD 33 43 COME DOWN START ME UP - SALT N` PEPA 34 20 I WANNA DANCE WITH YOU - DANIEL O` DONNELL 35 21 JUST ANOTHER DAY - JON SECCADA 36 NE EXCITED - M. No wonder DR ALBAN could not get to the top, with the unmissable "IT`S MY LIFE". UNDERCOVER did a pretty different version of GERRY RAFFERTY`s "BAKER STREET", which Gerry had at number one in 1978, on the equivalent MRIB top 50. TASMIN ARCHER struck, and had number one written all over it. BOB MARLEY got the playlists fired up, with "IRON LION ZION". BOYS II MEN took forever getting to the top. LIONEL RICHIE was in the chart forever with "MY DESTINY". BRYAN MAY (married to ex-Eastenders star Anita Dobson), was solo performing away from QUEEN. MANIC STREET PREACHERS covered the "THEME FROM MASH", very well. SNAP were on week 15, and became the best seller of the year. PRODIGY it turns out had 2 hits with "FIRE", in the title. JANET AND LUTHER just missed the top. EAST 17 were on early days, along with TAKE THAT. BIZZARE INC took us to the dancefloor. JON SECADA had a long run with "JUST ANOTHER DAY". R.E.M were at their highest point, with the new album on the way. PEARL JAM, SUEDE, and MESSIAH kept the alternatives happy. As did the housey type DR SPIN. BOY GEORGE, DEF LEPPARD, SIMPLE MINDS, and SALT N` PEPA were rather on the decline on the singles front. CATHERINE ZETA JONES loosely tried the pop scene, out of "THE DARLING BUDS OF MAY". Re-issues for SEX PISTOLS, and re-mixes for CRYSTAL WATERS nudged the 40. As THUNDER rocked, and strange double acts with SHAKIN` STEVENS/ROGER TAYLOR, and DAVE STEWART/TERRY HALL..both songs not heard since! (The vintage charts from the MRIB archives for Independant Radio 1992), The top films were compiled by Screen International, for UK Box Office, the top dvds by DTR, the top tv by BARB, top albums from Chart Show TV (the Chart Show Artist Albums, Sunday 2.30pm). Hang on for this week`s up to minute Singles chart....
October 3, 200816 yr Aw, good ol' Catherine Zeta Jones! :D Atleast her career was still somewhat brighter than Naomi Campbell's music career.* *Even though Love & Tears is an all time classic. :kink: :heehee:
October 3, 200816 yr Thanks again Dave, excellent work. Actually the Brian May song was incorrect. It was 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' that was in this chart, not 'Driven By You'. I corrected it for you.

He always does so well in terms of physical singles as he sells to those types of people who don't know how to download.
