Posted October 8, 200816 yr So, for non-Americans, who would you vote for and why? For our American friends here, who will you be voting for on 4 November? Barack Obama - Democrat http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/9/9d/Barack_Obama.jpg/145px-Barack_Obama.jpg John McCain - Republican http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5b/John_McCain_official_photo_portrait-cropped-background_edit.JPG/144px-John_McCain_official_photo_portrait-cropped-background_edit.JPG
October 8, 200816 yr I dont really know that much about them and their campaign but McCain and especially Palin repulse me, so probably Obama.
October 8, 200816 yr Obama by far! I always support the democrat candidate anyway but Obama and Biden have both impressed me in the debates I've watched where as McCain isn't sure what he's saying as he is altering himself to please Republican voters (he was nearly John Kerry's vice presidential candidate) and Pallin.. less said about her the better! For all those who are not sure I'll tell you this! The Republicans are so right wing that if David Cameron was an American politician he'd be a democrat.
October 8, 200816 yr Obama. If McCain & the She Devil (Palin makes Thatcher seem like Mother Teresa in comparison)get in then the whole World is going to hell/armageddon after the USA invades Iran in 2009/10 and sets off World War Three.
October 8, 200816 yr Yeah, i'm not 100% clued up on the whole debate, but I definitely want Obama in. He's what we need at the moment, we don't need no right-wingers f***ing up our economy anymore. We're pretty such almost in a state of depression at the moment, and I can only see this getting worse if the Republicans are elected, so I really hope for the rest of the world's sake that Obama is elected president. If the Republicans are put into power, then I can't see anything getting better, only 100x worse.
October 9, 200816 yr Obama by far of the two, but it does seem a shame that it's only ever a two-horse race tbh.... A vote for McCain is a vote for Palin and the chance that if McCain drops dead of a heart attack, then this looney-tune, ultra-christian/conservative psycho will have her finger on the vast US nuclear trigger... so you Americans may want to think about that and ponder....
October 9, 200816 yr Well, the three candidates I'd vote for (in order of preference) would be Moore, Nader and McKinney, but out of those two I'd definitely go for Obama.
October 9, 200816 yr Obama... though I should point out that I'd probably support Paris Hilton for the Presidency sooner than I would a Republican candidate. For what it's worth though, Obama is phenomonally intelligent and also seems like a genuinely decent guy with good intentions, which is a rare breed in politics.
October 9, 200816 yr I should point out that I'd probably support Paris Hilton for the Presidency sooner than I would a Republican candidate.   And that really sums up how people feel about the Republican party..... Mind you, I reckon Paris Hilton would be likely to be a Republican considering her affluent, priveleged background.... ;)
October 9, 200816 yr Obama after recent showings of Palin and McCain I would seriously worry if they got in. But who's to say Bush won't rewrite the constitution and use the financial crisis to justify that to stay in power even longer. o-zoPgv_nYg
October 9, 200816 yr Looks like both candidates have pissed off some of the USA rock stars :D Foos fight McCain over song use US rock band the Foo Fighters have told John McCain to stop using song My Hero in his presidential campaign, saying it "tarnishes" the track. The band said it had been "appropriated without our knowledge". But a Republican spokesman said the party had licences to play "millions of different songs". Acts including Heart have all asked Mr McCain to stop using their songs, while soul singer Sam Moore has asked the same of Democrat rival Barack Obama. The Foo Fighters, fronted by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, said they found out their song was being used through reports. Cease-and-desist The band said in a statement: "The saddest thing about this is that My Hero was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential. "To have it appropriated without our knowledge and used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric just tarnishes the song." Republican spokesman Brian Rogers said the campaign "respects copyright". "Accordingly, this campaign has obtained and paid for licences from performing rights organisations, giving us permission to play millions of different songs, including My Hero." Earlier this month, Heart singers Ann and Nancy Wilson said they had sent a a cease-and-desist letter asking the Republicans not to use their 1977 track Barracuda. They called in lawyers after vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin used the track at a party rally. And, in August, it was announced that singer Jackson Browne, 59, was suing McCain for using his hit song Running on Empty in an advert for his campaign. Browne, who is seeking more than $75,000 (£40,000) in damages, claimed the advert was an infringement of copyright and will lead people to conclude he endorses McCain. The Republicans called the legal action a "big to-do about nothing". Source: BBC news
