And Mitch Hewer was not good OR goodlooking :( Which was my main problem with the show obv.

Tell me About It im shocked :o he was soo much better looking in Skins....what happened :(

I think he looks a bit too camp now for my liking.

I think the whole thing was rubbish - it may get better with the cameo appearances I suppose but I just HATE the six lead characters. I've watched all the bits I wanted to watch on-line anyway - and that was only the back-stage action, auditions and interviews.

I don't like this kind of thing when Americans do them - the Brits just do it a bit worse.

Less "Britannia" High, more "Americana" High IMO... This is just lowest, common-denominator, Americanised junk of the most dire order.... You can excuse "High School Musical" for being trashy and American, because it IS trashy and American.. But for a Brit show to pretend so pathetically and obviously to be American is a considerably worse sin.... This makes HSM look like "West Side Story" or "Bugsy Malone".....

Awful, awful, AWFUL stuff...... :puke2:

I thought maybe having a good actor like Mark Benton in it just may make a difference .... but it didn't! It was still swarmed by too many stage school brats! Interesting to look at some of the behind the scenes action and auditions and just one girl (without drama school training) got to the middle-stages of the auditions ... every one of the others were ... you guessed it .... SSB's.

I can't friggin' stand Arlene Phillips anyway ... always a poor woman's Flick Colby!

Has the UK EVER done a show of this kind which turned out to be good?

Well DUH! 86% of working professionals in the industry have at least some kind of Drama School training and as an actor myself (with currently no proper training yet which I'm trying to get sorted) this show excites me for I actually think I'm better than a lot of them.

The posh one is especially bad as he doesn't convince me at all! But the story has sucked me in at the moment so I just keep watching anyway. :(

I actually think this is ok! Just some of the acting is a bit... Bleurgh

Yes but there are good actors that went to stage school and bad actors that went to stage school. I suppose this one only had the bad ones audition for it! The lead actress (and I use the term in its loosest way) in this annoys me doubly as both her parents are actors / dancers (one of them is actually friends with Arlene Phillips anyway so I've been led to believe). Nepotism eh! Gets a job before you can say Bob's Your Uncle!

And you have my sympathies being drawn into this load of old cobblers! Mind you ... my husband is a martyr to Hollyoaks! I can't see the attraction myself! As for Britannia High - I was one of those eight million on episode one who switched over to watch the Antiques Roadshow!

Well you've summed it all up with that one statement, "It ain't what you know, it's who you know" ;) One of my best friends though, her mum is an actress and her dad is a director and her mum has had a decent career and never went to Drama school! Someone who I worked with at my old Youth Theatre group (who was very impressed with me indeed apparently at one of my performances) works at RADA so you never know!

Luck plays a HUGE part as well, a couple of examples: In a course you might get on it because they see potential in you or you're most suited to their training and for work if you may be able to play the part but you may not LOOK the part.

Bah! It's so fun but it makes you so poor :(
