The track is awful imo, and stating Johnny Cash as such a high influence is an insult tbh.

I dont get what is in comparision to Rammstein meeting NIN?

if this killers record is supposed to sound like 'johnny cash meeting the pet shop boys' then in comparison that girls aloud record could be regarded as sounding like 'Rammstein meeting NIN'

oh so pretty much your saying the killers record sounds nothing like 'johnny cash meeting the pet shop boys' sorry im slow sometimes.

I don't really like it either :( . Its not rock imo

i wouldnt call any of their music 'rock' to be honest.

yeah spot on! 'johnny cash meeting the pet shop boys' is not my comparison tho there may be a slight truth in the 'rammstein meets nin' comparison seeing as the GA song does sound more like an mid 90s industrial epic when its played next to human (and anyway the riff for Sexy! No No No is from an old hard rock song by nazareth) ...Girls Aloud much much better and will still sound much better after a 100 plays....

I don't care about how 'rock' it is, it's good to see them diversifying their sound, and god knows it was needed after the turgid singles from the second album.

Why are people freaking about it not being rock? It's in the same genre as the debut album's singles pretty much.

OH, and it's amazing. Stunning production and vocals.

They were never rock in the first place, and they have never been rock

But they have always been $h!t! in my opinon

We get it, you don't like it, no need to create a big rant thread going on about it.

spot on tigerdude! :cheer:

see.... we do agree on some things!

I've never ever called The Killers rock!

What a retarded thread!

They're more electro/pop/alternative to me.

And besides the song is brilliant and a total change of direction for them. Much welcomed after their diabolical excuse for a sophomore album and has restored my faith in them. It's a beautiful song and is effective due to how simple it is.

They've always been highly cheesy pop, why the surprise now?

Somebody Told Me was the Top 5 hit Shed 7 always meant to write.

Smile Like You Mean It sounds like the theme to an mid-80s teen magazine show.

etc. etc.

It's actually one of their better songs that's for sure, although it's one of the most repetitive things ever.

They've never even called themselves rock though? :/

Their first album was more pop/ dance orientated and Sam's Town was "Americana" (although I'd say this was much more rockier than Hot Fuss)

Human has gone back to their more dancier efforts - similar to the Hot Fuss era, but still a completely different direction, which I think has paid off, as I absolutely love it and it looks to be one of their biggest hits!

and so if they are actually pop and not rock - why the f*** are they still in a rock section? is it because they are male and still quite respected in the press...if they were a female band they would just probably got so totally criticized in here and the thread would have been banished to pop faster than the declining fortunes of the feeling...

^^

But they're not the same kind of pop as The Saturdays or Girls Aloud are they?

Definitely more alternative, hence why they're in this forum - not just rock: indie, alternative and rock.

Besides, they've got their own forum, so there shouldn't be many threads about them in any other forum anyway to be honest -_-

Mystery of the year... SOLVED! LOL

Flowers clears up 'Human' confusion

Rex Features

Killers frontman Brandon Flowers has cleared up confusion surrounding the lyrics to new song 'Human'.

The track features the chorus line "are we human, or are we dancer?", leading confused fans to speculate that Flowers is singing the word "denser".

"Denser? I hadn't heard that one. I don't like denser," he told MTV.

"[The lyric is]taken from a quote by [author Hunter S.] Thompson: 'We're raising a generation of dancers.' I took it and ran. I guess it bothers people that it's not grammatically correct, but I think I'm allowed to do whatever I want."

New Killers album Day And Age is released on November 24.

TBH, that GA track DOES sound a fair bit meatier than the fey-sounding "Human".... So, indeed, the question SHOULD be asked, "why the fukk ARE The Killers of 2008 discussed in any kind of Forum bearing the name of Rock in its title...?".... Quite contrary to the naysayers on this thread, I actually found "Sam's Town" to be ambitious, if perhaps somewhat flawed, but I wouldn't say it was a million miles away from what a lot of the more over-ground Indie bands were doingmid-80s when they were going all "pop" on us... "Hot Fuss" is, of course, a pretty excellent IndiePop album....

"Human" is just absolute PISH.... It has no guts, it has no imagination, it has, nothing.... Even the worst tracks on "Sam's Town" had a certain something about them....
