November 8, 200816 yr I was a Lib Dem person until they stabbed Kennedy everywhere and kicked him out of the way. And, this, in a nutshell, is the whole problem the Lib Dems have... They should NEVER have gotten rid of Charles Kennedy, biggest mistake they ever made if you ask me; so bloody what if the guy likes a bit of drink...? Never stopped Winston Churchill from leading the country during WW2 did it....?? Could you imagine if Churchill was a politician now, in these ridiculous "style over substance" times in UK politics..? He'd've never even gotten a sniff of a leadership position... Clegg...? I mean, sorry, but who the fukk IS HE....? The Lib Dems need to beg Charles Kennedy to come back....

And Attlee would never have made it because he was boring. I think Kennedy had to go if only to give him more chance of overcoming his problem without the additional stress of being party leader. With the benefit of hindsight, Vince Cable would have been an excellent choice as his successor with the possibility of a Kennedy return after the next election. Oh, and a correction to Craig's earlier post. The latest possible date for the next election is June 2010, not April.
November 8, 200816 yr Cameron is the British Obama except obviously different skin colour No no no, Craig. David Cameron barely inspires me to beathe never mind vote for him. He has totally floundered of late, and Brown is now catching up in the polls. The election of the Conservatives would be a disaster on many levels for the country.
November 9, 200816 yr ..... and to highlight the publics fickleness and the inaccuracy of the polls.... labour hang on to glenrothes , a seat they were expected to lose.. so no, the very same thing WILL happen if there was an election tomorrow.. brown would return (albeit with a reduced majority). cameron is a boy full of hot air and ideologies that in the real world are unsustainable. That's way too presumtuous on the basis of just a Glenrothes by-election. For one thing, there were some specific local factors in play: the Labour candidate was very personally popular, and the SNP-controlled local council had come in for a lot of criticism. I'm fairly sure that if an election was held today, it would result in a hung parliament... perhaps Labour would get slightly more seats than the Conservatives, but I actually think Clegg would lean more towards a coaltion with Cameron, which would make him the winner.
November 9, 200816 yr Agreed. Fife council have come under a bit of an attack recently. Quite a few prices for council services have risen under the SNP
November 10, 200816 yr Quite a few prices for council services have risen under the SNP Hmmmm, that's interesting....

November 11, 200816 yr Homecare has risen drastically in price since the last election up here -_- God, yeah, I heard about that actually.... On "Newsnight" of all places.... Pretty bloody scandalous... I was fairly positive about Salmond's election North of the border, but looking into the details, I'm not so convinced by him or his Party anymore.... Neither is my mum, who actually voted for him.... Going back on his word to re-regulate the buses was pretty damn two-faced of him, and the reports in Private Eye of SNP's links with fundamentalist Islamists frankly disturbs me....
November 11, 200816 yr the polls apparently telling us one thing but reality is that an incumbant party is much harder to shift. Very true, look at what happened in '92.... I mean, there's nothing I'd love to see more than Broon getting booted out, but if this means the Tories getting IN (as it seems to seeing as how people have this whole "two party system" mentality fukkin' hardwired into their bloody genetic coding... <_< ), then fukk that...... I'd really love to see an option for "None of the Above" put on a ballot paper... The BBC Swing-ometer would go totally nuts.....

I don't think they've kept a single promise. And i don't count removing the tolls on the Forth&Tay bridges. Every party that had a candidate in Dundee, Fife and Lothian campaigned for it. -_- It's quite amusing to see them justify all their u-turns tho. I'd really love to see an option for "None of the Above" put on a ballot paper... The BBC Swing-ometer would go totally nuts.....  There is, It's under Lib Dem :P

Weren't the Glenrothes polls showing a Labour victory in the end? Admittedly, it wasn't by such a big margin though. But the 1992 result certainly isn't enough to base a conclusion on, there's nothing to suggest it isn't a statistical anomaly... and even if it isn't, most pollsters would tell you that that year's results makes it more likely that the Conservatives' support is being underestimated in polls right now ('Shy Tory Factor'), not Labour's.
November 11, 200816 yr I'd really love to see an option for "None of the Above" put on a ballot paper... Haha, that's got my vote.
November 11, 200816 yr Weren't the Glenrothes polls showing a Labour victory in the end? Admittedly, it wasn't by such a big margin though. Yes they were. bookies slashed to odds of a labour win to the same as an SNP win 2 or so days before the vote.
November 15, 200816 yr Well were in need of chance, so i hope the Conservatives get in. Not because of the economy, but i would like a Government thats tougher on Immigration though i fear its about ten years to late. I just feel that we should give jobs ONLY to British people at this time not people from abroad when they are 2 million unemployed in this country. I think if the conservatives were stronger than they would win by a landslide but it looks like they have very few ideas or real Policies. But they cant be any worse than the current lot so i still think i will vote for them and Give Cameron a chance.
November 15, 200816 yr Oh please - most of the jobs that immigrants do in this country most British people wouldn't even dream of doing! Could you picture all of these unemployed choosing to pick fruit in a field for a job? No, because most British consider these sorts of jobs 'below them', but we'd be f***ed if anybody stupid and reactionary enough to campaign for 'British jobs for British people' got into power!
November 15, 200816 yr Oh please - most of the jobs that immigrants do in this country most British people wouldn't even dream of doing! Precisely... Most of these jobs that immigrants are doing are low-paid, in retail or in hotel industry... Indigenous Brits are far less inclined to "lower" themselves to do these sorts of jobs... Even though most of the people who object the most to taking jobs such as this are lazy, barely literate chav scum who scrounge off the state and breed like bloody rabbits, and contribute FUKK ALL to this country other than crime and feral offspring.... <_< Say what you like about immigrants, most of them HAVE jobs, pay taxes and NI, and they aint afraid to get their hands dirty... Frankly, I know who I'd rather deport... I'll vote for the party who has the guts to say, "let's deport ALL Chavs...."...
