Excellent for Fairytale of New York I'm sure it will be the years highest charting xmas song once again !

I don't think it will. It only did so well last year because of the f***** controversy, and was physically released a few times a few years back too i think  . Just think though how much songs will sell if they keep coming into the top 10 for the next few decades!

The Pogues and Mariah sold 87k and 78k each last year :o

The Pogues is always the one with campaigns though because it's seen as highly credible, profits go (or did?) to the charity for Kirsty and it's generally regarded as the best ever.

Mariah doesn't get the same promo because it's a cheesy mess.

I think Mariah's Christmas effort pales into insignificance against the musically superior Fairytale of New York. The closest songs that come to it for me are Stop The Cavalry and I Believe in Father Christmas. I've just recently started listening to Frankie Goes To Hollywood's The Power of Love too ... if only to try and dislodge that cr/\p Il Divo version that keeps being played lately.

Hope Duffy can make it into the top10

Has she performed it anywhere ?

Nope. She performed on MTV EMA Awards but she performed 'Mercy' there for some bizzare reason.

FONY is probably one of the over rated chrimbo songs of all time (along with Slade). I like the song, but it's not half as good as it's made out to be. Maybe i'm the only one who thinks that but IMO no song comes close to Wizzards - IWICBCE ^_^
:w00t: at The Killers overtaking T.I & Rihanna so soon :o They will be number 1 next week (Not this week) on the official chart at this rate :o Who are the main contenders (new releases next week?) Same Difference I think :w00t:

Oh Johnjo how I hate these shortenings of titles, I never know what it is actually  IWICBCE?

No way if FONY overrated. I've only started actually 'listening' to it recently. When Shane sings the line 'I coulda been someone' followed by Kirsty's 'Well so could anyone' - those two lines bring tears to my eyes. It isn't just a song its a story. I agree IWICBCE is one of the best but nothing comes close to the Pogues & Kirsty (well Jona Lewie comes pretty close - a song I haven't even listened to in great depth until recently - and with that one too - the lyrics are meaningful.)
