Posted November 20, 200816 yr Survivors was a British television series devised by Terry Nation and produced by Terence Dudley at the BBC from 1975 to 1977 and remade in 2008. It concerned the plight of a group of people who had survived an accidentally released plague that had killed nearly the entire population of the planet. The programme is usually described as falling into the science fiction genre, but a more appropriate description would be to call it apocalyptic fiction. On 22 November 2007, the BBC announced that they were going to remake Survivors, as written by Adrian Hodges, to be shown on BBC One. The new version will be loosely based on Terry Nation's novel. Not all of the characters from the original series will appear, and some will be reimagined. Set in the aftermath of a virus which has wiped out most of the world's population the drama will star Julie Graham, Max Beesley, Phillip Rhys, Zoe Tapper and Paterson Joseph with a supporting cast including Freema Agyeman, Nikki Amuka-Bird and Shaun Dingwall. It will air from 23rd November 2008 ======================= Original cast Ian McCulloch Lucy Fleming Carolyn Seymour Denis Lill John Abineri Celia Gregory Lorna Lewis The original is Cult Classic created by Terry Nation, a lot of the older members will remember the original series, will the remake live up to the original series.
November 20, 200816 yr Looking forward to seeing this.... Loved the original series and would love the DVDs of the originals but they are too dear. Carolyn Seymour was hot!!!!!!
November 23, 200816 yr Author Oh my this was very good, I'm hooked, great casting and some great acting, really enjoy it. The ending of the episode was a bit of a cliffhanger. Love to see how the series span out, Anyone else watched it
November 23, 200816 yr I thought it was brilliant as well. I loved the fact that some of the people who were billed as main stars died in the first episode too. Really sets the scene. I thought it would be quite slow, but it was very fast paced, and the ending was very intruging... definitely some big conspiracy going on.
November 23, 200816 yr Yeah, I loved it as well! I don't think Freema is dead though.... Max Beesly was great, good to have a baddie there. The ending was really good as I want to know what is going on! Next episode Tuesday night :D
November 23, 200816 yr I hope Freema is dead. :heehee: She's so annoying and can't act for cheese and chips. Apparently 2 of the leads were meant to die in the episode who were in the press release, and one of those was definitely the main characters husband, so the others got to have been Freema.

It seemed to take longer for the virus to take hold. Nice twist at the end of the episode. That didn't happen in the original series. Lots of Dr Who links. The original was created by Terry Nation who gave us the Daleks. Then there's Freema Agyeman of course. And Paterson Joseph has been suggested as David Tennant's replacement.
November 23, 200816 yr Author I also think they were filmed as 30 minutes per episode, but the BBC decided to span the series in longer episodes as I did notice every 30 mins. A fresh scene started at the beginning, unless it was my imagination.

I was plesantly suprised that after 30 mins the virus was pretty much in full whack.

November 24, 200816 yr Oh bum! I came in to say how I can't ever go into Doctor Who threads as I only just finished series 3 but that I love Freema and that Martha is my preferred assistant to Rose in the new series, and how I look forward to seeing her in this. THEN I see that a) it's already begun and B) she's probably DEAD!!! :(

November 25, 200816 yr I didn't want to watch this as i don't really like any of the main characters, But my sister was watching it so i ended up catching most of the first episode. Didn't think it was as good as it was made out to be.
November 25, 200816 yr Ive watched it now and I really enjoyed it - I HOPE Freema isn't dead, that'd be ace! I really like the main character, she's very likeable. Why are they all in the same place though? Are all the survivors just from the same area or are there actually lots of survivors in different parts of the country? That would make it less special to be honest. Loved the twist at the end though, hope it continues well!
November 25, 200816 yr The BBC website says this about Freema's character - "But fate intervenes to confront Jenny with choices beyond anything she could have imagined" - did she really do that in the first episode?
November 25, 200816 yr Author Another great episode, it seems they are leaving the cliffhangers for the final episode, to piece the story together, actually I like the concept of it, where they create cliffhangers at the end of each episode, it makes clever viewing, and to keep you interested in the series.
November 26, 200816 yr Loving this at the moment. Tonights episode was better than I thought it would be. I love the new female character too, she's very manipulative and obviously Bob's going to come back at some stage... The interaction between some of the characters is immense too. Can't wait for Patterson Joesph and Max Beesley to tear each other to shreds next week.
November 26, 200816 yr Trying to avoid the last few posts since i'm watching it now... Who is Freema? I was kinda half asleep when i watched it. Don't remember the end of the last episode, thought they all just unified? And the one who got chucked out the car got rescued?
