Personally, I agree with both sets of people, in parts! If this song was in such huge demand as we all thought, it wouldnt be stuck at no.11 after 48hrs. I would use Estelle as a reference point, she werent on the front page and still manage to get 7k+, that 1st Sunday, and if GAGA had sold that much, she would have been in the Top 10 already, as Robin has already stated.

 

I agree that when it gets into the top 10 it will get it's boost, but not to top3 this week tbh...i am kinda shocked, cos I thought it had a chance of being no.1 next week and now it is clear that it wont be! My only hope is that is a grower and can sustain sales long enough, to withstand the arrival of Kid Cudi (which is the biggest song in clubland atm) and rise to no.1 by the end of January!

So pleased at how well 'Issues' is doing - Witht the physical and remix download package released on January 5th I am now expecting this to go Top 3 :w00t:

Totally, i also thought it would be top 10 at the very least by now BUT i still think itunes updating problems haven't helped. I mean the top 100 hasn't updated since last wednesday for me (i hope that issue gets sorted soon) so many still won't know its even there unless people look for it. Though I'm sure that will change once its top 10 (its looking likely it may get stuck behind Alex in the main chart now) Also, the UK top 10 last week sold over 36,000, thats a HUGE amount, many #1s havent even sold that much! So its taking longer to make the impact that it may have done. I remember years ago January was the lowest sales period, obviously not anymore! (Im not saying these are the reasons but im sure they are a factor or I may be wrong completely) :P

 

I wonder how much longer Alex will be able to maintain her sales? I suspect she will have a hefty drop this coming week (its gonna fall from #1 on itunes by the end of the week anyways). It will be interesting to see who will knock her off now.

The point I'm made is that if it had sold say 7k yesterday, it would have been in top 10 already this morning, quite comfortably, it hasnt obv...so we have all overestimated the INITIAL demand of the song! Cos, on Sunday (with exception of Alexandra) no one really ever appears on advertising till monday, and it doesnt stop those songs get to the top 10 within 24hrs. But, i still think it is more of a grower, like it has been in the states, then an instant smash!

 

Tbh, i think Alex will clear 100k with ease, as she is still selling over 10k downloads a day and has physical advantage! I feel it will drop between 60-70k next week, but still nothing will challenge her!
