 At leon for not selling nowhere near Leona & Shayne but When you believe i think looks like its the 3rd biggest selling Christmas no.1 of the decade :o

Including outselling Band Aid 20 :o

Surely 2 Become 1 didn't sell all that in one week?

It sold that much that week. These are official sales.

Bloody heck! I loved that song, but at the time too young to care about sales, all i knew was chart positions. (Too young to know the true meaning of 2 become 1 as well!)

I think you thought it sold more than 1 million but it hasn't, it looks like because of the title of the song, just noticed this

Haha! Leon, bad sales compared to Shayne and Leona. I hope Alexandra can sell near enough what Leona did.

And, oh, I misread the 2 Become 1 sales aswell

Band Aid 20 had already been out for 2-3 weeks, though.

Steve Brookstein, the first X Factor winner, is missing, I think he released just after Christmas? As did Michelle McMannus (Pop Idol 2). Also, if the people of Pop Idol 1 had realised the earning potential of the eventual winner and been as cynical and money grabbing back then as the X-Factor people are now, their show would have ended just before Christmas and Will's single would have smashed all records, possibly selling even more than the 1.1m units he did sell by Sunday 2 March 2002. Or Gareth might have won, as people might be more sentimental coming up to Christmas, and he would have held that record.

Sorry, I digressed. ^_^

In terms of Christmas week sales it's the 4th biggest of the decade but overall I'd say the majority of the others outsold Leon!

Steve DID release in the Christmas week but was beaten by Band Aid, if I remember rightly he sold about 150k? He then hit #1 the week after but with a lot less sales!

2B1 sold around 1.2m in total mind!

Band Aid 20 has higher first week sales, at the start of December i think. Still sold in excess of 1m

Shayne Ward sold over 1m copies of TMG, Leona actually sold more copies of Bleeding Love than AMLT.
