Pffft...thats stupid...why allow some and not allow some :( It's not really fair to the ones that are in the UK, Medowhatever amnd Irish finlas is it??? :( Also it measns i STILL can't enter Big Bro Thang :P Which is my favourite song of last year along woth Rihanna's Shut Up And Drive :P

The point is that most people would know stuff from these ones as they (along with Melodifestivalen) are pretty much the only NFs on here that anyone pays any attention to :P

Unfortunately not :( Once a song's been sent, it cannot be sent in another form - although this does raise the question as to when a sample/interpolation becomes a cover

I think sampling is fine TBH.

Oh yes, thank you for reminding me :smoke:

How's this for a proposal people? :o Seeing as Eurovision doesn't dominate this forum anywhere near as much as it does over at the NSC (seeing as that was set up on a Eurovision forum ), I propose that we modify the rules forbidding songs that participate in National Finals, instead only forbidding songs that participate in the British and Irish national finals, and the final of the Swedish Melodifestivalen (so, to elaborate, you may not enter a song in the early stages of Melodifestivalen if it is still in the contest, but eliminated ones are fair game - if you want to tap up the flops that is ). This would open up the contest to all sorts of efforts from around Europe that I doubt many people would've heard of or noticed anyway given the lack of attention paid to the early stages of national finals even in the Eurovision forum itself here, and would also provide a fresh mining ground for entries!

What do people think then? ^_^ I expect nothing other than utter outrage at this proposal from Herzebania of course :P

You would be right. Just be glad I've calmed down in the time it has taken to read the rest of the posts and get round to replying :P

To be perfectly honest I actually don't think it's that bad of a rule, although it probably won't make that much difference to what people enter other than a couple of countries.

I think if it is extended, to avoid any confusion to any national final then that's a good rule, but preliminary rounds are okay. Because there are certainly a few Spanish songs from this year and last year that just were entered on the Myspace which I would consider entering, but really the thought of sending a national final song has never really crossed my mind at all.

Which is why it's allowed :P

Oh right ^_^

Hmmm, well I wouldn't think Britain + Ireland + Sweden finals = no-no would be that hard to remember :heehee: Anyway, it is a bit of a minor rule change seeing as I doubt many people have yet considered it (although the fact that it was banned from the beginning might have had something to do with that ), but one that I think is a bit pointless seeing as most people wouldn't know these songs in comparison to how many would over at the NSC. Also, it's pretty easy to correct if someone goes for a British/Irish/Swedish final song (apart from BWO in V, although I do hope we'd be a little more on the ball about it this time around rather than discovering after the contest ) so I don't see any need to ban all finals :o

OK then. Go for it.

Done! ^_^

I love how my blessing is like a seal of approval

Well, you were the only one I expected to have a problem with it :P

I'm confused, has this rule been confirmed or whatever?

If so, I think it is a terrible rule. It's unnecessary to exclude UK/Ireland/Sweden from the other 40 or so countries in Europe. Perhaps they are the countries that get the most attention in the national finals but that shouldn't stop people from entering songs from there is they can do so from Malta for example. If the rule isn't, just ignore me.

I do think you are trying too hard to change the contest to be remembered though. By the time BJSCXIII is finished it will be the Trashlexis song contest. :(

Oh, don't worry, I've thought of proposing this for a while, and suggested it to Rich, but he asked me to propose it instead  The fact that I'm hosting has no bearing on my proposal of this particular rule :o

If anything, it's less of a restriction really...the point is to avoid the cheapest of entries (as national finals would be in the NSC which is hardcore Eurovision-love), but it's pretty obvious that most people here would never have heard anything from a Maltese selection, whereas generally the only ones here that get attention are the British and Irish NFs and the actual final of Melodifestivalen (you're free to enter anything that doesn't make the final :P), so it would make sense to only restrict those as they are what that rule was getting at really :o

Oh yes, thank you for reminding me :smoke:

No, because that was in the final of the UK NF :P

BUT WE MUST PAY TRIBUTE.

UBERLOLZ.

So could I send Jordan - Not Just Anybody if i so wish?

No as that was a British National Final song.

I don't really like the idea of this change. It should be all or none and I'd rather it was none. This rule change is only an excuse to send more MF rejects and yeah, we don't need those thanks. No need to complicate things.

EDIT...

Edited by Chrimbo Jon

How silly... :( Not Just Anybody

So I can enter something from another national final.. in bloody Sweden or whatevs? (Asif there is not enough of those kinda songs already  )

Well, seeing as the original rule was only intended to deal with those few NFs, I felt it was appropriate to propose that we change the letter of the rule to reflect the spirit of it :P

The point is that you can't send one from the final of the Swedish national finals either :P
