Well that's not true, to be fair.

If you'd looked in the Moderators lounge you would have seen a discussion about merging the two.

And Merging the punk/ metal forum with indie/rock would have been even more 'f***ing retarded' as punk is much more active than specialist in the long run.

And not all of the threads have been put in indie/rock, the ones which apply more to pop/RnB have been placed in the appropriate forums.

Well for non-moderators, we/i/whatever didn't have a clue what happened as we couldn't see the mod's lounge neither was there an announcement in the announcement forum.

so your a f***ing accountant are you?? thats the truth!!! thats the mentallity you have!!! all about traffic!!! the area was called 'specialist' doesn't that tell you what it is... of course it wasnt gonna be as popular as punk...as it was specialist...and btw isnt Indie, runk, metal, alternative all supposed to be rock music - thats why they should have been merged into a rock area...that was the point...

and this from somebody who wrote in a Mystery Jets thread:

:o They've been dropped?! WHY?

Well according to posters before me, it doesn't seem like it matters too much, but it's still a shame.

^ They've been dropped I believe for two reasons: firstly due to disappointing album sales and secondly as 679 want to put their full attention/funding behind Little Boots for 2009...

the specialist area was the mystery jets of bj!!! providing a haven for 'art' in a see of nasty commercialism!!! (tho my point is to wipe it off the map completely....and not been asked about it too)

Oh hush. Jake, a fellow mod of the specialist forum, was the one who spearheaded the effort. We don't need your whining and moaning. It's a shame you weren't informed, but perhaps if you got on more and actually kept up with the goings on of BJ more often you could have provided input.

Specialist Forum was a waste of space. All of the active threads in there could easily fit under the large umbrella of 'indie' / 'alternative'. It does Buzzjack absolutely no good by catering to all these various genres. Indie and Specialists were both lacking in any sort of important activity, and by combining the two we actually have a nice and active forum for lesser known acts. Any thread that would have gone in Specialists can now go in here; I've already done two (Animal Collective + Antony and the Johnsons). The people who frequented the Specialist forum were also those who posted mainly in the Indie forum. We had two forums for the same types of music fans. It was just dividing up activity.

Get over it, honestly.

Yes, quite. There has been almost endless argument about splitting up genres here, and Specialist as an area simply was not working. The topics have been merged with ease into here, and Pop.

Granted, an annoucement should have been made (and I will do one now) and you informed, but there you go, we all have things to do in life as well as the internet!

Well I may not be an accountant, but at least I have a good sense of English grammar, which is more than can be said of you obviously:

Your = Possession of something. E.g. I don't like your tone.

You're = You are. E.g. You're a self-righteous prick who overuses punctuation.

Easy! :magic:

Stalking me much?!

Oh and I don't understand this post at all. How does this relate to anything?

Perhaps it's your apparent incapabilities in the usage of the English language that confuses me?

Oh and I don't appreciate personal attacks. I don't see how I provoked that reaction at all.

LOL, go Cremey!

You dont think that Alex has a point then....? I mean, sorry, but I think he does... There's a LOT of artists out there who dont really fit into one genre or another, and seeing as how people DO tend to get a little bit annoyed and say stuff like "Hey, why are you posting a thread about Spunkbucket in the Rasatbilly Skank Forum, when everyone KNOWS that they're Buzzsaw Gothic Punk Industrial...." "Specialist" was a pretty good catch-all for the stuff that didn't really quite fit into Dance, Indie or Metal, particularly the singer/songwriter, neo-classical, jazz, etc sort of stuff.... I think getting rid of it was a bit silly myself....

So, any more Forums out there Admin's planning on getting rid of or "merging".....?

For my sins, I found Cremey's post funny.

Back to the matter at hand, the Rock forum can be the place to post such threads that don't have a specific genre - there is no reason why it cannot be named the Rock and Alternative forum for instance (although the name of the forum is yet another (probably endless) debate).

Well I may not be an accountant

oh, you could of gone with the accountant story, we could of fooled him forever :nocheer:

the thing is neo-classical, jazz and that sort of stuff literally no one posts about that style of music, but then again on this genre biased forum hardly anyone posts anything apart from pop.

oh and how cool would it be to have a Rastatbilly Skank Forum :o

Er, I dont think that threads on the likes of Jamie Cullum, Katie Melua or some random electronica/bleepy dudes like Karl Bartos or Luke Vibert are exactly appropriate for a "Rock" Forum.... Not even sure the likes of Amanda Palmer or Emilie Autumn would really qualify either....

So, you're thinking about renaming it the "Rock and Alternative" Forum.... So, er, that would presumably mean ditching the Punk/Metal Forum then, yeah....? Riiiiiiiighhhhhht, cos threads on Coldplay, The Killers and The Strokes REALLY belong together with threads on Cradle of Filth, Metallica and Nine Inch Nails any more than threads on The Saturdays, Katie Melua and Slayer belong together dont they......?

If you're gonna ditch any forum, why not ditch the fukkin' Pop Forum, seems pointless to keep it going seeing as how ALL the high profile Pop Acts seem to have their own bloody Forums anyway, even the ones that have only been going for five minutes and dont really sell that many records......

the thing is neo-classical, jazz and that sort of stuff literally no one posts about that style of music,

There were plenty of posts with regards to the "singer/songwriter" genre in that Forum though Chris.... We also had a pretty big discussion on the last Goldfrapp album on that Forum as well....

Frankly, I think ditching it is pretty retarded tbh, and dont think for a minute that Admin doesn't have its eyes on thePunk/Metal sub-forum mate..... Or maybe even the Film, TV or Perspectives forums....

first point, fair enough then, i didnt really look in specialist much anyway.

second point, they already have their eyes on the punk/metal forum, imo it should be unsubbed, if it got merged i definatly wont be happy.

Me neither mate... We fought bloody hard to get that Punk/Metal forum going in the first place.... <_< There is NO WAY that threads on the likes of Coldplay or The Killers should be in the same Forum as threads on Slipknot or Cradle of Filth.... I mean, would you put a Kylie or Madonna thread in the same place as a thread on a Dance Act such as The Prodigy or Sash....? NO YOU BLOODY WOULDN'T..... Totally different genres.....

exactly, a while ago when i asked for the punk/metal forum to be unsubbed one of the reasons i used was that it isnt part pf indie/rock/alternative anyway so why is it a sub forum in the first place.

to be honest, punk/metal forum goes, i go.
