January 2, 200916 yr Author Can I ask who is Timmy Vegas? Isn`t he a DJ? Tipped to be big since last June, I believe...
January 2, 200916 yr I agree Kardinal Offishall Ft Keri Hilson will be HUGE in February and probably still on the chart come July.
January 2, 200916 yr Author Cheers Dave! Lady Gaga looking a cert for #1 next week... Back to 1978, I got that Disco Fever album as a Christmas present (along with Rumours by Fleetwood Mac). I still have it, though a lack of a record player means I've never listened to it for years! Here's the cover of the album: http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=1038431 I got it at the time because it contained "Joy Sarney" she peaked at 26 after a pretty unbelievable TOTP appearance! Even so, it got alot of airplay at the time. We called it a "fun" record, but it was slightly naughty in it`s own way!
January 2, 200916 yr Have a look at the latest Fresh Hits Chart, Tom...because of those re-climbing hits that we dropped previously that can`t be allowed to be in our chart anymore, it`s a real different story: Interesting, thanks Dave. Shame how Sugababes isn't doing much better, but great for GA and double GA... :)
January 2, 200916 yr I got it at the time because I tipped "Joy Sarney" to be big in 1977, but she peaked at 26 after a pretty unbelievable TOTP appearance! Even so, it got alot of airplay at the time. We called it a "fun" record, but it was slightly naughty in it`s own way!naughty naughty naughty! Actually I don't remember her TOTP appearance though I guess it probably involved a Punch and Judy type doll...
January 2, 200916 yr Author naughty naughty naughty! Actually I don't remember her TOTP appearance though I guess it probably involved a Punch and Judy type doll... It did! I wonder if it might be on You Tube? :teresa:
January 2, 200916 yr youtube strikes again! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BiZNUsIc4Z0 Joy Sarney - Naughty Naughty Naughty Longer than the Disco Fever version which misses the second verse.
January 2, 200916 yr I'm surprised Tangled Up isn't set to have any sort of impact this week, seeing as it is also £3 in HMV  Its dealer price is too low - its charting in the Budget Albums chart
January 2, 200916 yr Author youtube strikes again! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BiZNUsIc4Z0 Joy Sarney - Naughty Naughty Naughty Longer than the Disco Fever version which misses the second verse. Fantastic! Do we start a compaign for download in 2009! I seem to remember Jimmy Savile calling her "Happy Sandwich"....I also have a feeling it might not have been her real name. Unlikely. Joy Sarney? Never!
January 2, 200916 yr Joy Sarney - Naughty Naughty Naughty Longer than the Disco Fever version which misses the second verse. Just vividly remember this. Anyone for a Ham Sarnie :heehee: Cue sandwich jokes
January 3, 200916 yr Oh Booo! The Script look set to climb but only to 25  No new peak for that then :( Hopefully Kevin Rudolf will be comfortable in the Top 40. For some reason I see that climbing for the next couple of weeks, I don't know why
January 3, 200916 yr I got it at the time because it contained "Joy Sarney" she peaked at 26 after a pretty unbelievable TOTP appearance! Even so, it got alot of airplay at the time. We called it a "fun" record, but it was slightly naughty in it`s own way! Love that record still.
January 3, 200916 yr youtube strikes again! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BiZNUsIc4Z0 Joy Sarney - Naughty Naughty Naughty Longer than the Disco Fever version which misses the second verse. I used to hate it when the K-Tel and other compilers edited a verse out. Remember them doing it with Seasons In The Sun too.
January 3, 200916 yr I used to hate it when the K-Tel and other compilers edited a verse out. Remember them doing it with Seasons In The Sun too. :angry:they also did it with So You Win Again by Hot Chocolate on that Disco Fever album, the second verse and chorus has been omitted. It completely ruins the song as a result.
January 3, 200916 yr I also think some songs on the Now albums are edited too. I don't know if they chop parts of the song or whether it's a special edit the record label does for Now. Edited January 3, 200916 yr by Robbie
January 3, 200916 yr I also think some songs on the Now albums are edited too. I don't know if they chop parts of the song or whether it's a special edit the record label does for Now. Yeah but they don't miss out whole verses I've been told so it's not as bad as what K-Tel and Ronco etc used to do.
January 3, 200916 yr the most guilty parties was Radio 1's Top 40 in the early 90s they hacked the singles up to fit them all in....
January 3, 200916 yr The SEX PISTOLS gave the title that could never be said on air! Ironically 2 children's favourites have been inspired by the title! Just before Christmas we had Bob The Builder's Never Mind The Breezeblocks while back in the early 90s Zig & Zag released their debut album "Never Mind The Zogabongs" (Zogabongs were those deeleybopper-type ears they had!)
January 3, 200916 yr Author the most guilty parties was Radio 1's Top 40 in the early 90s they hacked the singles up to fit them all in.... Yeah, but Pete at least we could hear a good part of all 40 hits in 2.5 hours, and no waffle! Today they have 3 hours, and don`t even try to get 40 records in. In a 3 hour show, you could play the top 50, let alone 40. When songs are going down, and hang around for weeks...do we really mind them being shortened? I don`t think so...at least we`d got to hear bits of them all.
