August 14, 200915 yr Author Anyone desparate to legally download those tracks from the UK could always try the link I gave last week.... :)
August 14, 200915 yr Thanks for posting shaky. I wonder who will knock Black Eyed Peas off the top? They will clearly get a 6th week. I can see Shakira potentially doing it in September, considering how popular she is there (having 4 #1s already this decade) plus the video is now #1 on irish itunes! Going back to the release date argument, I think its more to do with the fact the Irish chart has never relied on first weeks sales to a large extent. Even back in the early part of the decade, many songs continued to climb to #1 unlike the UK. The record companies have nothing to lose really by doing it in Ireland, if a song is big enough itll reach #1 regardless (as seen by the fact only 3 songs have entered at the top this year - all Irish, which is the complete opposite to the UK) Also regarding #1 sales, I remember there was an article in 2007 which I'm sure said that Timbaland (The Way I Are) had sold 3,600 one week to reach the top. JayZ/Linkin Park apparently sold 2,000 copies to reach the top in 2005 I remember reading once too.
August 14, 200915 yr Anyone desparate to legally download those tracks from the UK could always try the link I gave last week.... :) Thanks for the tip, i used the irish 7 digital to download 21 Demands a few years back and to my surprise it worked. Though I did try to buy Leona Run last year and I'm sure it didn't work. I may try again though at some point as its crazy we have to wait so long in the UK sometimes
August 14, 200915 yr So #16 is Jay-Z. Yes, that's way early there. :| Edited August 14, 200915 yr by FM11

I don't suppose there's any way you can remember where you saw that article by any chance?? Oh and it's nice to see people outside of Ireland taking such an interest in the Irish chart by the way :)
August 14, 200915 yr As to what will be the next No.1, BEP's will definately take a 6th week, but I'd say Jay-Z will take the top the week after. He's already No.2 on iTunes. Although will Shakira be out then?? Because if she is she'll definately be No.1!
August 14, 200915 yr Well, a lot of the big stuff gets released in most major markets as well as Ireland. This weeks No.16 has been released in Canada, France and Australia too. But yes, I don't really know why Ireland tends to get the big stuff ahead of the UK. All I know is I'm not complaining! i just think the Uk are big on their 'realese dates' where as over here its just a song and you download it if you like it...which then results in lowere peaks because songs are selling less over a longer period of time than a lot i one week.....
