I'm glad you said that Norma, people were very angry at Kate Nash getting the award and not Leona but it was WAY early for her to take a BRIT... very surprised this year though to not see her. Run I can understand as it didn't get a proper release?

Yes but if it was too early for Leona then surely it was too early for Kate aswell

Take That only have 1 nomination - bizarre!
No because Kate Nash worked for her award Leona won a show a got guarenteed at least 1 hit single.

And who had the best selling album of 2007? Amy Winehouse. And who wasn't nominated for a single award in 2008 except as a guest vocalist on a Mark Ronson single? Amy Winehouse. Leona may have been big this year but she won't get nominated until she releases a new album. the only reason she has the nomination she's got is because the single was released in the last year. As I said, I'm not sure Run would count because it was technically an album track. She was nominated for best female last year and didn't win. And she, like Amy Winehouse last year, didn't release a new album therefore couldn't be nominated for the same award again.

Its tough, but it happens. Get over it.

Actually, they both went to the Brits School so did amount the same amount of work  althought I'll give you that Leona got famous off a tv show.

Leona wasn't eligible for Best Female because she didn't release a new album this year. (Spirit Deluxe doesn't count as it's still Spirit.)
Are these real, cause since when has an X Factor winners song been up for the award.
To be fair though, Scouting for Girls released their album in 2007...

But it didn't get nominated last year, or get as much recognition as this year.

They were not eligible for The Circus, they didn't have live gigs this year. I am upset that Rule The World didn't get a nomiation (i think it was eligible this year) but some bad cover versions did.

I predict that Coldplay will walk with at least 3 awards, Duffy maximum with one, Take That with nothing and Adele with loads (grrr). I hope Shadowpuppets get the award as IMO their music is better as Arctic monkeys'.

good list, dunno what r u talking about.

I am shocked that Run and greatest day werent up for best single.

Best group is between coldplay and girls aloud in my opinion. Girls aloud may just snatch it after being nominated last year aswell. But i am not surprised GA's album wasnt up, its good but its not that different from their others.

James morrison for best uk male please.

I am shocked that Run and greatest day werent up for best single.

As a Take That fan ... I'm glad Greatest Day hasn't been nominated! It really wasn't that great!

I'd love Take That or Girls Aloud to get the best British band ... but can you honestly see the Brits Panel going for pure pop?

Still ... Take That added to the performing line-up is great. Hope they're singing Up All Night and not Greatest Day! That album needs a jolt to push it back to number 1 where it belongs.

Norma

As awful and generic as ever I see! :D

Pink for best international female, couldn't care less about the rest tbh.

Normally no but i think girls aloud have had too big a year last year that it would be mad for them not to win.

Plus, girls aloud are praised by a lot of the indie acts that the brits love so they might feel they can get away with it this time.

The best artist/Group has always been connected to the best album nomination if Take That were not eligible for best album how are they nominated for best group ? if it's now based just on having new music out in 2008 then LL and DR are eligible.

The album nominations have always covered a 16 month period so albums that might have been overlooked when they were first released can be nominated the next year. the reason Amy Winehouse was not nominated last year was because she won the best album category the year before. you can be nominated twice for the same album [u2 were nominated twice they won it the 2nd time] the exception to this is if they win it the first time they are nominated they can't be put forward the next year.

found this while googling - BBC website 2006

This 16-month period is designed to catch "sleeper" albums that were released months before an artist hit the big time.

This theory worked with James Blunt's Back to Bedlam, which was released in October 2004.

It did not gain popularity in time for last year's ceremony, so now has the chance to win thanks to the extended qualifying period.

But U2's How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb - released in November 2004 - came out during the crossover period and so has been nominated for two years in a row.

Unless they have changed the rules again
