January 20, 200916 yr Well as usual the BRITs excel in some downright bizarre nominations. Some notable absentees but due to BRIT rules can be explained Leona from Best Female - No album released in the qualifying period Dizee Rascal from Best Male - No album released in the qualifying period Rihanna from Best International Female - Despite releasing a gazillion singles no new album in the qualifying period But my biggest shocker is no Script! They suffer nomination wise from being Irish because I think they would have been a shoe in for British single and Breakthrough based on sales and airplay if they were English. It's a shame really but there is too much competition particularly from American acts in International categories for them to be noticed, maybe next year but they were my album of the year so bit gutted  Clearly R n B is not flavour of the month with BRITs panel, I never expected Chris Brown AND Ne Yo to be nominated but I thought atleast one would! Absolutely STUNNED to see Scouting for Girls with 3 nominations :o I had them down for Breakthrough but I would NEVER in a million years have guessed them for Best Live Act - seriously?! Why not Oasis or the kaiser chiefs who have both toured? In fact Oasis have been royally snubbed this year haven't they?! :o Also when I think of my favourite songs from 2008, 'Heartbeat' doesn't automatically jump out at me! Pleased to see Girls Aloud finally being treated with respect and have been asked to perform after being so permanently snubbed in the past even when Best Pop Act existed. I would like to see them win Best Single because with all the will in the world I can't see them winning Best Group although I would LOVE to be proved wrong! Oh and a win for Will in Best Male would be nice after SEVEN years in the business and after most so called experts predicted he wouldn't last 6 months B) Edited January 20, 200916 yr by nicola37
January 20, 200916 yr How can The X Factor Finalists seriously be nominated for a BRIT? :manson: One of the most turgid charity records ever. :puke: Surprised Leona hasn’t been nominated for best British female although I suppose all she did this year was reissue spirit with a Snow Patrol cover. Kings Of Leon will clean up on the International side of things blatantly.

The Script is one of my fave new bands and their album is my album of 2008  Also 'The Man Who Can't Be Moved' is my fave song from 2008, I just love it. So I am extremly gutted they haven't been nominated for at least ONE award! :snif:

January 21, 200916 yr What a load of rubbish indeed. How the hell have bland acts like Coldplay and Duffy got more nominations? When is the Coldplay backclash going to start? X-Factor up for an award! Simon Cowell will obviously fix that public vote. As for the host choices...bar Kylie, the other two are just silly away from Gavin and Stacey! I can see a 1989 scenario happening between the three. Edited January 21, 200916 yr by Besmilliah
January 21, 200916 yr Amazing for Gabriella. Although the Sugababes should have been nominated for Best Live Act. The Change Tour received amazing reviews from critics and fans. Shame the Brits committee is made up of f***tards
January 21, 200916 yr I think it's awful x factor is up for a brit for singing a cover - while acts like the Sugababes aren't even nominated. GA deserve a win.

January 21, 200916 yr what annoys me is the hypocrisy of the brits launch show.. they annonce the nomminations and alongside show a review of the year! this includes britney and talks about her comeback! YET they dont put her up for international female, they then plus their album with EXCLUSIVE next to her name i assume because they know she could boost sales, yet she's not nominated and no doubt they'd love her to perform! and beck nomminated as he is every year every other year! lol at the guy who keeps making the killers comments, they are american!
January 21, 200916 yr Maybe the reason Beck is nominated every year is because there are A) so few International males (no Ne-Yo though is surprising) who have any success and B.) because he releases a very good album most year!
January 21, 200916 yr i like beck's Odelay and Midnite Vultures album but he does get a nommination everytime and r&b acts who are big international males miss out (ne-yo, chris brown) though my argument is flawed cause i actually prefer beck ur right maybe i should compare with Neil Diamond, Jay-Z, Seasick Steve who im not fans off.. but still britney was used!
January 21, 200916 yr I'm pleasently suprised that Leona isn't nominated :D Why people on here think she deserves an award so much I don't know! Just because she wails on what I've found is an absolute awful album which she's had NO contribution to whatsoever! And if you want to talk about generic it doesn't get more generic than her! "Hmmmm what could her new single be like? I KNOW! *gets piano out* *Dun dun, dun, dun* *releases to radio* ZOMG! HOW INNOVATIVE! The difference between her and Adele is that Adele chose what she wanted to do and also wrote it so it is her music meanwhile Leona has been one of the most cleverly marketed manufactured artists for quite a while and as long as X Factor is around she'll have a stepping stone to hype what they decide to do with her. For similar reasons is why I wouldn't want Girls Aloud to win! Well done Brian Higgins for the best group nomination :P The only nominations I object to are the fact Scouting For Girls got so many nominations when all their songs sound the same and Ian Brown as much as I like him has done nothing! I though Chris Brown released his album in 2007 anyway? It just didn't sell anything and it was only re-issued in 2008.
January 21, 200916 yr I though Chris Brown released his album in 2007 anyway? It just didn't sell anything and it was only re-issued in 2008.Yes you're right. He was like Rihanna and Leona, by not releasing a new album. ^_^ Still... No Ne-Yo :( Next year they should have an award for, "Best British/International Deluxe Album" :kink:
January 21, 200916 yr Glad Girls Aloud are up for 2, but expected for them to be in Best British Album! No Leona. I honestly thought she would be one of the nominees in Best Female Solo Artist and Best British Single for 'Run' HAPPY FOR GA THOUGH :cheer:
January 21, 200916 yr Oh yeah i forgot Rihanna/Chris relesead in 2007 aswell. I guess that's why Taio isnt nominated aswell.
