January 25, 200916 yr Katie was never available on iTunes was she? it was a Tesco/Tesco download only release I thought It was Tesco's only. Hence its non-appearance in the list.
January 25, 200916 yr Thanks for this ej87. Fantastic read, very interesting to see who had the longest stays at the top of the iTunes chart.
March 27, 200916 yr I'll always remember how that nasty Proclaimers $h!t robbed Avril of a number one even though she was ahead on downloads :(
June 15, 200916 yr 11 Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow 6 Days From 12/05/2009 To 17/05/2009 12 Dizzee Rascal & Armand Van Helden - Bonkers 5 Days From 18/05/2009 To 22/05/2009 13 Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow 6 Days From 23/05/2009 To 28/05/2009 14 Agnes - Release Me 3 Days From 29/05/2009 To 31/05/2009 15 Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow 3 Days From 01/06/2009 To 03/06/2009 16 Kasabian - Fire 3 Days From 04/06/2009 To 06/06/2009 17 Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow 2 Days From 07/06/2009 To 08/06/2009 This is ridiculous xD Two of those three returns were legitimate regained #1s too - Agnes lost it after BEP was used on BGT, and Kasabian clearly only had that short initial sales boost and BEP took over easily. It isn't really fair to assume BEP would have taken over Bonkers that quickly without an iTunes glitch however - Bonkers was deleted via a glitch, but at the time of deletion it had a massive lead over BEP. We've also already had a fair share this year of iTunes #1s that weren't official #1s: 3 Kings Of Leon - Use Somebody 4 Days From 20/02/2009 To 23/02/2009 7 Noisettes - Don't Upset The Rhythm (Go Baby Go) 10 Days From 26/03/2009 To 04/04/2009 14 Agnes - Release Me 3 Days From 29/05/2009 To 31/05/2009 16 Kasabian - Fire 3 Days From 04/06/2009 To 06/06/2009 19 David Guetta Feat. Kelly Rowland - When Love Takes Over 3 Days From 13/06/2009 To 15/06/2009 (this hasn't made #1... YET) Edited June 15, 200916 yr by B-rye
June 15, 200916 yr I seem to remember Wind it Up by Gwen Stefani going to number 1 on the itunes chart though even if it was for less than a day...
May 22, 201312 yr Oh my at The Saturdays - All Fired Up! At least they made up for it by What About Us hanging there for 8 days haha!
May 23, 201312 yr Updated 20/05/2013. :) Thanks for the update! It's interesting looking back through the years. It seems the number increases every year, but I reckon this could be the first year where we finally see a decrease. It seems 2009 was the year where songs getting really short runs (i.e. less than a week) at #1 became commonplace. I completely forgot that One Direction had 3 runs at #1 this year. I didn't remember any Buzzjack melt-downs, although people were probably just pretending it hadn't happened. I'm surprised at how long it was between the first and last run at #1 for Good Feeling. May 23, 201312 yr I completely forgot that One Direction had 3 runs at #1 this year. I didn't remember any Buzzjack melt-downs, although people were probably just pretending it hadn't happened. The returns were caused by their BRITs performance and their Comic Relief performance respectively. The first return was still within its first week so not too annoying but I'm sure there were a few meltdowns (i.e. me) the second time :P Besides they were only #1 for a total of 5 days across the 3 runs. Probably the shortest-lived #1 on the list that had multiple runs. Edited May 23, 201312 yr by Bré
