I actually prefer Scooch :P

My problem with this song isnt that its just boring, because I like ballads, but it because it sounds like something Simon Cowell would put on X-Factor as the winning song. And I cant stand those kinds of songs, I really disliked A Moment Like This, and this is along the same lines. I think the UK can do much much better! Still wish you good luck anyway

comparing to the rest of the songs jades song is very sophisticated but without sounding mean sophistictaed is rare in eurovision if u know what i mean.

i know many many peoplpe hated scooch but liked their song and although they didnt deserve to win i think they deserved better scores and i say the same about daz sampson

guys guys guys.... ive been watching eurovision since sandie shaw won in 67! i really cant believe that some of you think its a good track with a real chance of doing well! jemini's song was a good enough one, just poorly executed. daz sampson was rubbish, but it fitted the general eurovision silliness (mouth and mcneal anyone?.... dutch entry 1974, didnt win but did well).

theres NOTHING about this jade track that stands out as being any good. you lot are far too guilty of relying on the xfactor type hype n tripe as a yardstick to what is supposed to be 'good' music. IT ISNT. we have NEVER done well with a wailing bint.

jade will finish in the bottom half if not the bottom few. lamentable, as we used to be 'up there' every year with a damn good chance. just look at the track history of songs we entered that did well.... her style imho has no chance, its just totally forgettable.

by the time i log on again (tomorrow morning) either i or you lot will be eating humble pie... the result will be known.

Hello Terry Wogan. (He has slagged off our entry this morning in the papers)

I completely disagree.

Personally I think It's My Time is the best UK entry since 2002 (Jessica Garlick "Come Back"). Between 2003 & 2008 the UK has sent unmitigated $h!t and novelty tat (Daz Sampson) and as a result have failed to score 30 or more points in any of those contests, hence failing to score a Top 15 finish.

I personally think our European neighbours were spot on with their votes, as our entries in these years were an insult to the contest (a bit like sending a pub football team into the European Champions League).

"It's My Time" has class written through it. After all it is written by Andrew Lloyd Webber (who has won for his songwriting: 1 Oscar; 3 Grammys; 7 Tonys; 7 Laurence Olivier Awards; 14 Ivor Novellos) and Diane Warren (7 Grammys; 6 Oscar Nominations).

Rob,

You are fully entitled to your opinion but the European bookies do not back your opinion up.

Looking at the Betfair.com (European bookies) our entry is 12/1 third favourite to win. Last Year our deserved last placed finisher Andy Abrahams was 300-1 (3rd from last with the bookies). Whilst our UK bookies have Jade as 2nd or third favourite (odds ranging from 8/1 to 10/1). Last Year you could have got odds of 66/1 to 100/1 for our entry.

As for those who think the contest is a fix against Western nations, please remember in 2007 when we sent in my opinion our worst ever entry the appallingly tacky Scooch who finished 23rd in the main contest, we finished 2nd in the runners up contest with Cyndi (a female singing a big ballad) that our European colleagues were flabbergasted that we did not send to the main contest instead of that 3rd rate Steps act.

Oh, and as for females singing ballads not doing well at Eurovision in recent times .....

ESC 2007 Winner Song - Serbia - Marija Serifovic - Molitva

Personally I think you are better off keeping your obsolete outdated Terry Wogan/John Barrowman idea of what Eurovision is about to yourself instead of making yourself look silly. Which in 13 Hours I think you will do because unless Jade Ewen gets an attack of nerves on the night and blows her performance then I think the UK will comfortably have their best result since 2002 finishing on the left hand side of the scoreboard.

Amen.

TiP, sometimes I think that you write essays for no reason (I'm not going to lie) but this post was absolutely perfect. Every point you made, you backed it up perfectly. Let's not forget, even if you may not think the song is anything remarkable, the singer is, and hits the notes perfectly. As TiP mentioned, Molitva was a ballad sung by a female, did it flop? Certainly not, it went on to win the whole contest.

I do have one question though,

What is this runners-up contest? I'm intrigued to hear about it.

This song is just awful shes amazing but wrong song! i hope we fail with a song like this

I know about that, I voted in it! It's called the OGAE Second Chance Contest, it's not an official thing, but it's organised by the Eurovision fan club, the OGAE (Organisation Generale Des Amateurs De L'Eurovision). Have a look at http://www.sechuk.com/ - the contest will begin soon after the real contest, probably June. The results will be revealed later in the year. I'm not ashamed to say, I'm a member :teressa:

Fantastic post...

...and as for

we have NEVER done well with a wailing bint.

Jessica Garlick's ballad coming third destroys your argument does it not? :P Not that that doesn't disprove your point anymore than Molitva...seriously, the Netherlands crashing and burning with their hideous attempt at 'camp fun' on Thursday proves that John Barrowman's view of Eurovision is completely wrong.

We did very well. I'm very proud. I just hope Jade is happy.

She came 5th :heehee:

Well done Jade! :D Very respectable position and she should be thrilled. This is only the beginning for her, hopefully she will go on to have a big career. :)
TIP is usually on the ball (can't say I agree at all times) but if you could only choose one regular poster as a benchmark on buzzjack, he's your man....
Her nerves got the better of her a few times which was a shame as she's sung it so much better in the past. She was still amazing though and can hold her head high. :)
One slice of Humble pie fresh from Moscow for Rob

:cheer:

He can have another one from me too :cheer:
