Posted February 17, 200916 yr Tried searching for the info but couldn't find it. Anyone know what the shortest chart run is for a number 1 album (Top 40 or 75)? Noticed the White Lies spent just 3 weeks in the top 40 with "To Lose My Life", that must be close to some sort of record? Edited February 17, 200916 yr by 6weeksatnumber7
February 17, 200916 yr Well recently the ones that have spent 5 or less weeks in the top40 are: 2009 White Lies 3wks 1-8-25 2008 REM 5wks 1-3-8-13-25 2007 Ray Quinn 4wks 1-2-11-25 White Stripes 5wks 1-4-12-26-34 Chemical Brothers 4wks 1-5-19-25 Hard-Fi 4wks 1-6-20-33 Stereophonics 4wks 1-6-17-28 2006 Strokes 5wks 1-2-6-15-30 Morrissey 4wks 1-6-18-38
February 17, 200916 yr Officially the chart is the top 75 though. I *think* White Lies are still in there...
February 17, 200916 yr A number 1 album isn't bad for a debut album which has had very little airplay. Hopefully when the next single comes out (Farewell To The Fairground) the album will climb back up the charts
February 17, 200916 yr A number 1 album isn't bad for a debut album which has had very little airplay. Hopefully when the next single comes out (Farewell To The Fairground) the album will climb back up the charts It's a very good album but indie guitar bands aren't doing too well at the moment. So, in that context, they did well to make number one on the first place.
February 17, 200916 yr #1 albums with only 5 weeks in the top 75 (I think these are the only ones): Morrissey - Vauxhall & I Little Angels - Jam Iron Maiden - Fear Of The Dark Steve Brookstein - Heart And Soul
February 18, 200916 yr U2 will no doubt plummit in the following style : 1-5-8-20-35 or similar. You really think?! I agree that it'll vastly underperform but I highly doubt an act as big as U2 will fall anything like that quickly. It's not as if there's much out in the weeks after it...
February 19, 200916 yr Slipknot - Iowa 1-7-20 This didn't drop from #20 straight out of the Top 75 though. Is your source chartstats.co.uk? If so, there are only Top 20 charts listed for that period - giving the impression of a 3-week run. Edited February 19, 200916 yr by eightiespopkid

February 19, 200916 yr My, where can I find the whole chart run then? The full Top 75 chart run is: 1,7,20,37,54,72,-,-,74,-, = total of 7 weeks in Top 75 ;)
