February 24, 200916 yr Wow, I love DJ Shadow  Someone really brave (or stupid) should enter Six Days one time...
February 24, 200916 yr Are you trying to mock my entry? :/ It's called sampling, not ripping off. Get it straight. And sampling CAN be completely innovative, ever heard of 'Endtroducing...' ? It's thoughts like these that completely undermine the absolutely amazing work of artists like DJ Shadow, The Books, and a lot of Kanye West's more excellent material.... Yes I am. Sampling is taking a portion of a song, melding it with your own ideas and making something which is greater than the sum of the two. Lady Sovereign has just ripped off The Cure on a huge scale. Couldn't think of a quirky melody so lifted one. That's neither sampling nor innovative. It's an insult to compare this latest song with some of the greatest samplers out there.
February 24, 200916 yr Tis not an innovative sample, but it's really pop gold: an uplifting, relatable anthem for those having a $h!t day. Simple, yes, but quite effective I feel. Nothing wrong with paying a little homage to The Cure, a worthy tribute and use of a sample imo. I wasn't trying to compare Lady Sovereign to The Books / DJ Shadow, but the way I interpreted oyur statement made it seem like you were against sampling on principle.
February 24, 200916 yr absolutely fantastic video and concept Tom, so much cheapness highlighted by this! although Love Story really doesn't remind me of The Show apart from maybe a few notes in the chorus melody...other than that, I can't really compare a country song to a Regina Spektor-lite piano pop song :P I forgot to say - it doesn't remind me of The Show either. I don't really see any similarities.
February 24, 200916 yr Author http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/5698/thehype.png Edition #2: Who's That Girl? This edition we'll be looking at some of the female artists who you may not have been familiar with prior to this contest. With BJSC XIV being dubbed 'the cheapest yet' are there any creative new artists to be discovered this time round? We'll be hyping those who we feel bring something new to the contest and shaming those who are just a wee bit too stereotypical as we look for great NEW songs! 2WKiOShYDxk The Hype Chart: Edition #2 Marie Mai - Emenne-Moi: 4.5 Krystal Meyers - Feels So Right: 3 Remi Nicole - Rock N Roll: 3 Nikki - Bring Me Down: 2 Kesha - Backstabber: 2 Tasha Baxter - The Journey: 1 The Good Natured - How Can I Believe In You: 1 Hadise - My Body: 0 LaFee - Shut Up: 0 Sibel - Walking Away: -2 This edition we really are all about hyping the new artists, this is what the BJSC is all about and in our opinions BJSC XIV has succeeded in exposing a great, new, pop song to improve any music collection. We love to hype all new artists but also stress the importance of the need for new directions to be taken when looking for new music - we don't want the same old boring songs beign enterred month in month out. February 24, 200916 yr Another BRILL edition :o I still can't get over the fact how unique it is!
February 24, 200916 yr Another great edition of this. I was surprised at the lack of Dondria though, I had definitely never heard of her until Liam showed me it the other day. It sounds a bit like a Solange song and it's so repetitive it's hard not to get it stuck in your head. I'm nervously waiting for September to pop up in one of them.

February 24, 200916 yr very good again Tom, although are you basically giving away the songs that you'll be voting for  FSR Rontvia strongly disagree with your views on Sibel...Walking Away is very good early Delta Goodrem style fun pop and a lot easier to more pleasurable to listen to than the song from my semi that I rated 5.5/10 :P

I have tried to do it from a completely non-biassed p.o.v looking at how 'cheap' or inovative songs are as well as what I believe their appeals are. If it were to reflect my personal tastes, then you only need to have seen my charts to see some songs I love being shamed in The Hype I totally agree with your views on Sibel - an early Delta Goodrem! Hardly anything new and exciting which is what I was looking for in this edition ^_^ and of course I expected you to say exactly that  so which song did you rate at 5.5? :o
