^ I'm very surprised you have Nonsuch bottom considering the media buzz behind Marina, and the support she is already receiving before releasing (a Radio 1 Live Lounge Performance; a Radio 2 session & a BBC 6Music session her first proper single & album later this year.

 

Especially as she was unsigned in December 2008 so was ineligible for Sounds of 2009; whilst her debut single "Obsessions" / "Mowgli Road" was a limited "soft" release of just 250 physical copies whilst NOT being available to buy on iTunes.

 

Whilst as her blog on her MySpace implied (Nonsuch XIV entry from which the demo is taken) is likely to be her first proper release "unless she can come up with something better (i.e. more commercial) prior to the release of the album" on Warners alternative offshoot 679 Recordings later in the summer.

 

Still in a competition full of accusations of cheapness I guess it would be appropriate if a Diamond finished last. Especially as this Diamond is likely to be shining very brightly amongst music critics and hopefully in the UK singles & album charts before 2009 has finished.

Jake entered the far superior Mowgli's Road a few contests back and it did not do that well, sadly. I cannot see the Shampain Sleeper doing any better.

I know who she is, I just didn't find the song as instant as others, in a very high quality contest...

I can only see Velvet winning, it reminds me of Release Me in places. Take My Body Close is much better than Fix Me so top 4 is for certain!

I don't think it will come last, I just think it is the least likely to win. If I had to predict who would come last I'd say Fortunia.

I'm sort of glad my odds are quite low. I definitely don't expect to win first time out.

Do people really like this Velvet song? I heard it a few months ago and thought it was pretty weak tbh. Fix Me is far superior imo!
