Think Sam Sparrow is on 39, could join them soon :)

Not seen an up to date together list of these since downloads started to have a proper effect.

Anyone have album, or consecutive records?

I believe Engelbert Humperdink has it in singles with 56 consecutive weeks, with Rockstar 2nd on 50.

Hips Don't Lie had 38 weeks...maybe when her new single comes out she could clock up a few more weeks.

I know that Rumours,Bat out of Hell are probably the two longest runners. I think Abba Gold may be No 3 or 4 as well.

A lot of them weren't massive on their first week of release also. It was apparant that Umbrella, Rule The World and Mercy were to become classics when they were in the top 10 forever, not on their first week, despite large sales.

"Chasing Cars" manages to take the number two spot when only peaking at number six in the charts. I remember the song being disqualified from the charts though for some reason, something to do with the downloads not counting.

Madonna - The Immaculate Collection was long enough too in the top 75.

Here's the 'Most Weeks On Chart' Albums List - to W/E 7th March.

'Gold' by ABBA, is on 395 Weeks - counting today's New Chart. It was at No.34 last Week, & it is

obviously still going to be in the Top 75 today - perhaps in the Top 30.

'The Sound Of Music' used to be on 382 Weeks. it now loses 8 Weeks, because the 'Melody Maker'

Album Charts are used for February 6th to March 27th 1971 - and 'The Sound Of Music' was not in

any of those 8 Charts.

Position/Weeks On Chart/Title/Act

1) 478 Rumours - Fleetwood Mac

2) 474 Bat Out Of Hell - Meat Loaf

3) 472 Greatest Hits - Queen

4) 395 Gold - ABBA

5) 374 The Sound Of Music - Film Soundtrack

6) 373 Legend - Bob Marley & The Wailers

7) 372 The Dark Side Of The Moon - Pink Floyd

8) 315 South Pacific - Film Soundtrack

9) 307 Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon And Garfunkel

10) 283 Greatest Hits - Simon And Garfunkel

11) 282 War Of The Worlds - Jeff Wayne / Various Artists

12) 278 Tubular Bells - Mike Oldfield

13) 274 Face Value - Phil Collins

14) 251 Making Movies - Dire Straits

Yeah this was back when there needed to be a physical CD still available for the downloads to count.

When the rule was changed - and album tracks, prereleases and everything else were all allowed - Chasing Cars re-entered the charts. Possibly even in the top 10.

Yep, it re-entered at 9, Tim.

how many weeks did it potentially miss out on? This wouldn't really have affected any of the others in this list at the time would it?

Thanks for the albums Zeus, haven't seen up to date ones for ages though many of those albums don't change much from year to year i guess. Some Oasis and Killers albums mustn't be too far off surely?

Looks like Rihanna and Take That still have a way to go then, haven't even crossed the 100
