:o at Bat for Lashes already being at #89!

Hadn't even thought it would chart to be honest. Absolutely love it, one of the songs of the year for me

YAY for Enrique & Ciara climbing back up to #42. Hopefully it can continue to climb within the Top 40. :D

Maybe it'll get more of a push if its playlisted at Radio 1 ... though I can't remember if they playlisted any of Enrique's singles or not.

Hmmm... I wonder if anyone was saying this last year when McFly was doing the Official Children in Need single

Funnily enough, i was! I didnt agree with them choosing McFly as i knew they could'nt shift enough to make a massive difference (due to the performance of recent past singles) and it was'nt a great song but i bought it. It was seriously under-promoted though, not like this year's CR - those girls are working their buts off and as Frankie has said on two occasions now 'we've done our work putting out the single, now its down to the public to support the cause'.

I'll quite happily support the cause of Comic Relief, and I do. Yet there's no way on earth I'm purchasing that monstrosity, especially when about 20% of the money I give will actually go to Comic Relief! :puke2:

[25] 20| Chipmunk - Chip Diddy Chip

- Uh-huh!

[53] 42| Enrique Iglesias ft. Ciara - Takin' Back My Love

- Whoa, go Enrique! :cheer:

[72] 57| Red Light Company - Arts & Crafts

- Could outpeak their previous single 'Scheme Eugene'

[66] 63| Ladyhawke - Paris is Burning

- Climb more!

[80] 77| Friendly Fires - Skeleton Boy

- So as you!

[***] 113| Laura Izibor - Shine (Radio Edit)

- I like this song, I wish it could climb more.

No, thats not what im saying, i'm just not agreeing with the fact some people don't want it to be no.1. Over 33% goes to Comic Relief for the download and more for the cd single (although Una stated again today on The AT Show that ALL proceeds' go towards the track.
Maybe this will be a stupid question: but why are there 2 comic relief singles? In the last couple of years I can only remember one, maybe my memory is not the best.
I think it started from Peter Kay's a couple of years ago and now they've figured they can make more money by releasing two singles.
I see, one more dumb question: why are the release dates not the same?

Proceeds is what they'll call profits, it sounds better. Last year despite the physical of 'Hero' costing £3.99 less than £1 actually went to the charity!

If only a third of revenue goes to charity for a file, something which is only a service and not an actual product, then it'll be an even lower proportion for the physical! And why should I have to want it at number one just because it's a charity single? I cannot stand it, it's about the worst song so far this year and if it were to make number one would be what I;d call the worst since 'Hero' so why on earth should I be unhappy if it doesn't make it?

That is my thoughts entirely. That is why I found it bizarre all the brain dead zombies/morons/sheep who bought the worst record of 2008 X Factor's Finalists Hero. When only 23% of the money went to the worthy cause instead of donating directly or buying a poppy (whose sales were down 32%) as a result. So as a result of all those people buying that single less money was raised this year for our servicemen & former troops who have served this country.

But hey they are the same brain dead zombies/morons/sheep who happily buy The Sun or The Daily Mirror and think Jade Goody is the greatest Brit since Princess Diana, and take as gospel every word uttered by the vile Max Clifford; Simon Cowell; Piers Morgan & Rupert Murdoch Inc.

People should just see that the fact that a charity single (there are only 2 every year) deserves to be number 1 and sell bucket loads, nevermind giving money to a useless (now) two-hit wonder who throws away millions of dollers on his 'bling' whilst children in Africa starve to death.

Ok slag the song, but dont slag the cause and say it doesnt deserve to get to number 1. 'JCGE' is as much about Comic Relief as it is The Sats and anyone who thinks that it doesn't deserve to sell bucket loads, raise heaps of money and be this weeks number 1 (and next if Bryn and Nessa can't do it) should bugger off.

I do wonder if you are going to read this reply

Because there used to be one Comic Relief single every year, but they worked out it was more affective to release two singles (one contemporary pop act & the other a novelty/comedic effort) on the same year as the Bi-Yearly Comic Relief Day takes place.

So as a result of all those people buying that single less money was raised this year for our servicemen & former troops who have served this country.

I've got to be honest ... apart from Geraldine's Christmas single (and the one she did for injured pole dancers) I've never bought a charity single ever! The only time I actually had one in my possession was when a friend bought the original Band Aids single back in 84 instead of Christmas cards. They're usually crap - so I usually just give money to those people collecting on the day (you know ... the clowns that dress up and wave buckets in your face). This time though I'm actually going to give something to Comic Relief via that Kili climb thing! Yes I know its as much about pushing one's celebrity profile as the Saturdays or Girls Aloud doing charity songs, but what the hell! So I suppose I'm just as bad as those sheep buying the charity songs!

I've only ever bought one too! I bought Leona 'Better In Time'/'Footprints' last year (£3.99!!!! :drama:) and was SHOCKED to read inside that only "an ESTIMATED () 77p" of it actually went to Sport Relief.

Better In Time is a fantastic song though

Nobody is a sheep, people buy what they want to buy, i didn't buy the Hero song as i hate what x-factor represents, although it's funny to watch the auditions and i plan to do a comedy audition this year, but as you can buy Poppies for what you want, i dont think that they would have lost money as it would have been the poorer people who would have got the song and not the Poppy. I don't think i've explained the last bit very well so i apologize if you don't get it.

I disagree as a far greater proportion of that money will go directly to the cause of Comic Relief then buying a mediocre cover (at least it is not tear your ears off in horror as bad as the GA/SB the worst thing either act has ever or will ever do car crash single) of a mediocre Depeche Mode song in the first place.

Although the 9 celebs are taking the scenic lengthy route up instead of the quick 3 days up & down the mountain.... Although it would be so much better if the likes of Chris Moyles; Ronan Keating; Cheryl Cole; Gary Barlow etc got so far when confronted with this situation:
