In objection to the rampant cheapness of BJSC XIV, Chancellor Cermet Karasol of Kopečka and Trashe Svantselius, Executive Supervisor of the Kopeček Delegation to the BuzzJack Song Contest, have hosted a rare joint press conference where they announced the following!

Citizens of Kopecka, citizens of Miskantha, citizens of nations participating in the fourteenth edition of the grand BuzzJack Song Contest hosted by our good acquaintances, Herzebania; I come to you at a time in which the grand contest's nature is under thread.

It has undoubtedly come to your attention that this edition of the contest is easily the cheapest since the early contests, with only the eighth edition coming close to it in terms of lazy song selection with smash hits and artists rife within the final!

It is therefore obvious that Kopečka, one of the most prominent nations within the contest, ought to act to prevent this state of affairs from advancing. The consequences of cheap success in Herzebania could be devastating for the contest, which is renowned as being one of the best sources of obscure and unknown music on BuzzJack.

We therefore put the following to you. We urge all fellow nations who do not wish to see this contest degenerate to levels where countries destroy the ethos of the contest in the search for easy success by merely sending obvious hits, or indeed current hits, to join Kopečka in the establishment of an Anti-Cheapness Movement! ACM nations must take it upon themselves to act in the interests of the contest by not sponsoring obviously cheap, contest-friendly entries such as those that are present in the final of this contest, and supporting those entries that push boundaries within the contest, such as foreign-language or obscure entries!

For example, Saint Etienne...

Yes, yes, Saint Etienne are one possible entry that an ACM member could vote for, but we beg the multitudes of you that care deeply for this contest and do not wish to see it reduced to an irrelevance, a mere extension of the Multichart, to join the ACM and prevent cheapness from dominating the final results of this contest and the entry lists of future ones!

And to vote for the Method of Modern Love!

For the memory of tomorrow, thanks be to Dame Margaret. Amags.

Citizens of XIV-participant nations, regardless of whether they are Bergerians or not, have been aroused by this press conference and are pressing their nations' representatives to sign up to the Anti-Cheapness Movement ;o Membership is just a footnote in your signature away...

SRS POSTSCRIPT

No/partially, but do let me clear this up seeing what you've said in another thread. My definition of cheap does not include multichart stuff (otherwise by definition, Saint Etienne would be cheap). For example, Lady Sovereign, Amy Studt et al are not cheap in my opinion (indeed, as I said within there, I believe entries which push the boundaries of the contest, of which Lady Sovereign is one, to be an inherently good thing ;o), but stuff like Taylor Swift, Lily Allen, Kelly Clarkson, Kelis (to a mild extent...in another contest I really wouldn't mind Trick Me tbh), The Veronicas etc. really aren't good for the contest if you see my point? I mean, if Alesha did have the effect we speculated on the contest last month on this month, then what would all of these entries going top ten do to future contests? I don't mind the odd cheap entry, but the fact that so many countries seem to be sending stuff that's already familiar to the majority of participants really leaves a bad taste in my mouth...I don't know, and I hope that this is a one-off, but the creation of a pressure group may re-emphasise tingz ;o

It's all gone to Trash's head a bit hasnt it...

Hmmm? :smoke:

And Addy, it's not just about Umbrella hit-size stuff. Surely you'd see a problem with the songs I just listed all going top five/ten?!

This contest is getting more and more complicated!

I may well have to pull out as its all getting a bit daft :(

I'm really looking forward to the results actually, because if all of those songs do indeed go top 5/10, even the most ardent supporters of the 'this is no different to other contests' movement will surely wonder where the contest goes next, and indeed re-consider how to select future entries

It hant gone to his head. I'm signing. I did give low points to some cheap songs though.

Just because they weren't Umbrellas it dunt mean they're not cheap too :P

My entries may be sometimes cheap but if they are ever cheap they won't be pure pop etc. and they're likely to be male. Arguably this makes them not cheap, but i'm talking about new releases that are destined to be big.

Why am i saying hant and dunt as if i'm speaking? What if i wanted to say couldn't, that'll look really funny on the screen!

Whaaat?! As you haven't been particularly cheap, I fail to see what your reasoning is? ;o

The reason I went cheap, I just wanted to follow the crowd for once, so hoo ha to me, I should have stuck with Band Of Horses. I just wanted to make a point, for other contestants not to go cheep cheep cheep.

Waits for a flying brick :heehee:

I sort of understand your concerns (sort of), but this whole battle against cheapness has gotten to the point where it's vicious. Creating a group to tell people what entries to support / not to support? Really?

The best quality songs will do the best at the end. If people want to see more underground / unknown stuff at the top, send BETTER unknown entries. The quality of the entries that are being called 'cheap' is extremely high, of course they'll do well.

I dont know...anyway I shouldnt get involved in here at all, mainly because as I said earlier...I discovered 33 new songs from this contest, and I dont live in UK(to follow the single releases schedule) and dont have much time to hear everything that leaks in youtube and internet.

Whaaat?! As you haven't been particularly cheap, I fail to see what your reasoning is? ;o

Yes, but it seems there is no definition of cheap really - some songs I would consider cheap myself are not been cheap by others.

meh, so confusing :(

And I still think it was a conspiracy that PSB did not qualify, as I did see the track in many Personal charts, but hoo ha for me

I see where you're coming from, but I wouldn't really call it vicious. It's not so much telling people what to not/support, more asking people who agree to sign up and show that there is actually a strong opposition to just turning this contest into a platform for stuff that everyone's already heard...

And Mart!n, you wanted to make a point against sending cheap songs by sending a cheap song?
