I'm of the opinion that people can send what they want but should make the effort to find something new and unknown! The last couple of months I've found some great acts and songs from this contest (Lights, Sound Of Arrows, Ana Free, Velvet, Wondergirls, Marie-Mae, Margret Berger, Belinda, Mira Criag, Kate Miller-Heidke) It's much more rewarding to have an unknown song do well :).

Still im not changing my mind about this petition...im not gonna sign and still gonna send the song I like, no matter if I qualify or not.

 

I may even send again Ciara with Justin Timberlake-Love Sex Magic in XV :heehee:...Im sorry but im loving this duets a lot.

If anything this contest has a problem not with entries but people voting for their favourite people. That's why I don't really do BJSC anymore. I find it all a monopoly these days.

 

I've only really noticed this in the obvious cases of Camtoro and Leonville, where the same poster was behind both countries :lol: otherwise, I feel that it's more 'shared music tastes' than voting for your favourite member's songs

Juranabaijan refuses to sign this motion as if there is a some cheap song in the contest...it reduces Mayor Juranamo's listening time and allows him to listen to all song in full with much more ease.

I agree, there's also things like Ashton nearly always giving FSR Rontvia points and Kopečka giving points to Mdiče (and the others mentioned earlier) but that's also because of similar tastes rather than giving your 'friends' points. I think it's quite a ridiculous claim to say people are giving points to the member, rather than the song. :wacko:

 

From what I can see, there's been a bit of back-tracking and now people are only really fussed about Simondly's entry this month and Angelicland's to an extent. :unsure: Of course sending the current #2 is a bit of a bad choice to make but maybe Simon didn't forsee it being such a huge hit? :unsure: I don't think it's going to start a trend of sending current top 3 singles, so I don't think we have anything to worry about there.

 

I guess the Veronicas are kinda cheap now, but the only reason is because they have a 5th, 6th and 7th in the history of the contest. It's not exactly everywhere right now. I guess you could use this reasoning to say Lily Allen is a bit cheap, she has two top 2 past entries, I've come close to sending her cover of "Don't Get Me Wrong" a few times but backed out. Kelly Clarkson is easily one of Buzzjack's most popular artists, if "Shattered Glass" was cheap, so is "Already Gone".

 

I don't see the problem with sending future UK singles though, I'll admit that my entry is a bit too close to the release date. (it's released the day the final finishes) We'e had plenty of future releases before ("So What", "The World Should Revolve Around Me", "Broken Strings", "Up", "Dream On", "Boyfriend", "Green Light" just to name a few) and there's been no problem about those.

I think it's moreso that they have all appeared in the same contests that is what was winding people up, 2 or 3 pre-releases a contest, you barely even register that they are pre-releases...I'd completely forgotten that Broken Strings had been a BJSC entry to be honest :o

 

As somebody else said, a lot of new music leaks in the first few months of the year, so I guess it's not a pattern that the contest will continue with throughout the year. The only reason I was getting frustrated is that success leads to copied ideas, so if everyone does well with pre-releases in this contest, then it might become the norm for others to start sending them too in the hopes of doing well. Indeed, if I'd left my confirmation a day later I would have sent We Are The People by Empire Of The Sun but by XV it will be cutting it a bit too fine to the release date I think, and of course I'll probably be bored of it by then :lol:

I'm sure we will have an era of cheapness like we have eras of anything, and we will move on. It was very cheap in the earlier contests, BJSC moved on from that, and I believe BJSC will move on from this era. Next contest might be different..I can understand problems people might have with sending cheap entries, but its not all that bad, is it really?!

I agree...im not bothered to be honest, because for sure I know that most of us wont send a top 2 hit...I would never do (and yeah Enrique peaked #59 this week and theres no sign to go top 40 this week either)...but the main reason is voting...I like Taylor and its #1 on my chart and now my head is confused...should I gave a vote or not. :arrr:

I think a lot of people will be thinking that. It's currently #2 in my chart and I'm quite obsessed with it, but is it right to give a current #2 high points? Heck, I was going to be thinking this about a former #2 in this contest that I love.

My only "political" vote is that I almost always give at least one point to the host :kink: Unless their song is really bad :P.

 

RE cheapness; I love Love Story at the moment, it'll probably be in my year end top 20, but it's not the spirit of the BHSC.
