For me, one of the most boring acts of recent years, over the last 10-20 years or so has to be Radiohead. Whilst they have produced 2 great songs in Creep & No Promises, Thom Yorke has to be the most miserable looking singer i have ever seen & the songs are so depressing -_-

wot? another vote for radiohead.... :(

I don't get this about Radiohead. One thing you could not say about their music is that it is boring.

I get it if you don't like their music but boring?

I would have to add Deacon Blue, Hue and Cry and Dire Straits to the boring list.

Surely boring music should drift by you in a haze without evoking much of a response at all.

Westlife don't do that (I hate their music and think they are drivel) so I wouldn't include them.

Well from pre 2000 I found the following incredibly boring ...

The Eurythmics

Phil Collins

Chris De Burgh (obviously)

Duran Duran

Bryan Ferry

Phil Collins

Kim Wilde

Phil Collins

There are loads more ... but they were so boring I've forgotten them.

Norma

Adding this to the boring list:

Phil Collins

Elton John

Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi

Journey

:kink:

Oh, don't forget Eagles, Audioslave :P

I don't know why so many people dismiss rap? Run-D.M.C. where amazing. (Eminem isn't, but he's still quite decent). "Artists" such as 50 Cent aren't rappers, they're just posers who slur their way through tracks banging on about fukking a girl, which gives a bad name to the genre..

as i see it, rap is american ghetto folk music and has no resonance with me.... an english white bloke. whilst i can understand it being pertainent to people in american cities, it simply doesnt connect with me. i guess many think like i do.

I think it's a shame that people think Run DMC exemplify pre-gangster rap - they were pretty rank when compared to truly great acts of the time like Public Enemy, De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest. Moreover, these acts wouldn't rap about the "things they're going to do to their ho", "how many diamonds they bought that day" or "when their imaginary gun went off by mistake".

They rapped about conscious issues, love and friendship and as to whether they were allowed to "kick it" or not.

Agree with Richie here. Public Enemy rapped about social issues and raised awareness among blacks and the whites who would listen. Musically hip hop was pushing the envelope even further out and all kinds of musicians have learnt from the genre.

Rebel Without A Pause was one of the most thrilling records when I first heard it in 1987 and it is still a truly great record.

I like acts like De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest because - aside from airing the political issues of the time - musically they were so on the ball and appealed to people from white-ethnicity backgrounds like myself because they were musicians (agreed, 50 Cent is vile and I'd rather eat my own head then listen to virtually anything by Eminem)

On the subject of "boring", I reckon some of you would box Lisa Stansfield in that ilk. But I happen to quite like her...
Can't believe some people think Radiohead are boring! :o

Very easily. :heehee: Although 15 Step is pretty decent.

Enya

I can understand how her music is not everyone's cup of tea, but I would hardly say that she's the most boring artist...she's very creative and does something in music that nobody else has ever done. If you're a hardcore fan like I am, you know a lot of reasons why she's a credible artist these days. ^_^

The usage of Loxian (a made up language that only she has ever used in music), the layering of her voice. There is nobody that sounds like Enya out there, I can't think of anyone.

Also, she very rarely uses outside musicians....she usually plays all the instruments on her albums....herself....last guest musician she had on an album was guitarist Pat Farrell, for the song My! My! Time Flies! from the album And Winter Came....

The song Angeles from the album Shepherd Moons has her vocals layered over 500 times....who else might pull off that many vocal layers, pre or post 2000????

Everything from 1990 on seems to be cookie cutter recoreded, all sounding the same..... :puke2:

It's her uniqueness in recording style is anything but boring to me....

And yes, even I think Radiohead are boring, as are Coldplay....and Oasis.....

but making up a language aint 'original' , nor is layering of her voice, and tbh i find it rather pretencious and silly. tbh she bores me.
