Bat For Lashes is the alter ego of UK singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Natasha Khan. Bat For Lashes' dramatic, avant garde style invited unavoidable parallels to be drawn with Kate Bush and Bjork, their music and vocals often sharing a similar exotic and enchanting sound. Khan's art school roots studying film and music are an obvious presence in her undeniably cinematic style, she often listed as films such as The Virgin Suicides as her inspirations. The wide range of instruments, combined with synths and beat machines on her 2006 debut album, FUR AND GOLD, created a unique, otherworldly sound that won her critical acclaim and devoted fans, including acclaimed psych-folk musician Devandra Banhart. - HMV

Album Discussion Thread Here

Last year for the first time, but in Montreal only. I loved it. Wanna go to Toronto and other places too, but need money and time (and maybe a travelmate)

I love Montreal, it probably has the most European feel than any other North American city. It's such a big country, it's so hard to see it all, even in a few visits. I haven't even been to all of the provinces yet, lol.

She just missed number 37? :|

Ah right, Beyonce!

How do you know it's Beyonce?

Daniel - Lovely song, well deserved of it's top 40 placing!

Fearne said Bey - Single Ladies was #37 :P

I love 'Daniel' so much, it's a beautiful song :)

My sister is a liiiittle too obsessed though, playing it like 20 times in a row.

About time we heard something decent. I don't love it, but it's good, at least. I probably sound so negative today, it's just a bad bunch of songs so far.
How do you know it's Beyonce?

she said it. do you listen to the radio? :)

I love Canada too - in theory

Sorry I can't help with the chart today, at the inlaws, so bored :(

Haha, in theory??

I never saw it being that huge...although I did think it might have gone top 20

great music but she's such a pain, her voice is atrocious :arrr:

:heehee: I can see how people find her voice annoying, but I think it just adds to her songs!

I know I've said this millions of times (although not as much as Martin! :P) but I absolutely ADORE this song.

One of my favourite songs of the year - here's hoping the album goes top 3!

36 (**) Bat For Lashes – Daniel

37 (26) Beyoncé – Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)

38 (38) Lady Sovereign – So Human

39 (46) James Morrison – Please Don’t Stop The Rain (D)

40 (48) The Killers – Human
