Many defo vote on the genre first before the quality.

The problem for that is that if the genre is not his/her cup of tea, then he/she will not vote for it even if it is a quality song (my opinion for the word 'quality song').

 

it's all relative. An amazing pop song to me might sound awful to a big indie fan and vice versa...it's not about boycotting a genre, no matter how good a song is supposed to be, if it's not to your tastes what can you do about it?

I'm sure everyone votes by song, but when you have so many from the same genre they often get diluted. I know I've got bored of listening to songs when a lot sound similar...

I still don't think anyone's ever admitted to voting via the recap video, personally I listen to each song at least 3 times, even if it's from a genre I wouldn't typically like, unless it really really becomes apparent that I can't bare to listen to it again but that's maybe 1 or 2 songs per contest :heehee: I voted for a mixture of pop, indie, dance and R&B in XV, I think two of my top 3 points went to R&B songs in XV which is surprising for me as I predominantly like pop but Wind It and Knock You Down could not be denied huge love :heart:

If there is a song I don't want to listen to anymore, I don't listen.. because then I know it's not pointable for me :)

I usually listen to entries a few times each. Sometimes you only really appreciate songs after a few listens.

However, if I find a song dire, sometimes I can only listen to it once...I just don't get the majority of all this Swedish Europop stuff! :(

Song before genre definitely for me though. I like a wide range of genres as it is and although I may prefer Indie/ Alternative stuff, I love R&B and Pop too, just depends on the song I guess. Some Indie/ Alternative songs I find absolutely DIRE, same as with any genre really.

Just check out my Personal Chart which I think it fairly diverse musically. Although I gravitate towards Music as Art over Music as Product.
