He's lost some sales then in the period he was removed (basically going from #4-#8), which will probably mean him charting in the lower end of the top 10 on Sunday. :(

Not that I want to defend Itunes, but it may more have to do with the record company than with Itunes... Why would they delete a song that is hugely popular and bring them some money?

If they took it off some European countries, it must be because they had a row with the record label or something, but it's not a deliberate choice to take it off surely.
