I actually do want him to stay. I truly hate Blair and think that Brown has been left with a load of $h!te to mop up!

Has their ever been a multimillionaire prime minister before or will Cameron be the first?

I think he’d rather call a general election rather than step down. :heehee:

if only it was that easy.... we are still living with her legacy...

Margaret Thatcher was the best PM we ever had. FULL STOP. If she was Catholic she should have been given a Sainthood.

I'm serious. She had guts, conviction and stood up for what she believed in. A truly great great lady. I worship the ground she walks on.

Although why being up the subject of a multimillionaire prime minister. I guess some would think it's a bad thing. Personally I would consider it a good thing.

I can't believe Derbyshire and Staffordshire have gone Tory . I prefer/agree with the policies, at least, of Labour far, far more than Tory's, even if they are in a bit of a shambles (slight understatement there LOL), but it would've been nice to be Labour's last council . I swear many of the voters are kind of naive and narrowminded about voting Conservative even though they've really got left wing views...

interesting question

tbh i think browns being blamed for alot of things beyond his control... the global recession and mp's expenses in particular. the public see the expenses fiasco as a LABOUR problem and many are ignoring the fact that the tories also had their snouts in the trough.

then who is there to replace him?... theres no obvious 'big gun'... so its all well and good getting rid of brown, either as leader of the labour party, or being voted out in a general election... but theres no point in replacing one numpty with another.

Norma, no disrespect, but that is simply nonsense.... It was partly due Gordon Brown's completely illusory fiscal policies and "financial prudence" while the Chancellor which led to this country being raped by the credit crunch/recession.... The guy said "no more boom and bust" when he took over the reins at No 11, well, wasn't that just so much sh!t....?

If anyone is gonna be left with a lot of sh!te to mop up, it's the next generation of young Brits who're basically gonna have very, very few prospects and a National debt which is completely crippling....

38% of the vote is not "overwhelming".

It certainly isn't... And that's only 38% of the people who bothered to vote at that.... Dunno what the voter turnout figures were, but I'd frankly be very surprised if it was over 40% considering the abject disgust the vast majority of this country has towards mainstream politics.....

What this country needs, is NOT a Tory Govt, it's a Revolution.....

Northern Rock was a bank, not a Building Society. It was its conversion to a bank that led to its eventual collapse.

With all due respect, that it TOTALLY splitting hairs and rather pedantic.... I dont give a toss if it was building soc. or a bank, we had to NATIONALISE it regardless and bail it out to the tund of billions because of the utter stupidity and greed of those in charge of it, and the incompetency of the FSA and Westminster to regulate what was going on.....

Proper regulation of the sodding banks was certainly NOT beyond his control when he was Chancellor mate.... That's utter Ratners.... I mean, he took regulatory control out of the hands of the Bank of England and created this massive QUANGO, the FSA, who were a bunch of incompetent fukk ups.... Of COURSE it's Broon's fault... His ridiculous illusion of "prudence" was what got us in most of this sh!t..... He made out like he was this great financial guru, when in fact he was just following what the Americans were doing... Great policy.....

Oh, and merging the Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise depts to create the utter disaster that is the HMRC, was another "inspired" idea, wasn't it....?

Which is why at the next Election, I'd like a Hung Parliament with a Coalition Govt with those who are actually capable regardless of party, coming in and running the show, Vince Cable is certainly the man who should be in No 11, imo.... We've had far too much dogmatic 'leadership' over the past 30 years, I dont particulary want a "big gun" taking over....

If Brown holds on until June/July 2010 then Labour i can see labour losing the lot.

The Tory's will mop up in england with a few lib dem areas and scotland will be carved up between SNP and the Libs.

The next Scottish election will be great, Labour will vanish, and i can't see the Tory's getting much support. 1] They are hated and 2] Their leader is laughable.

Coalition governments don't work

When Major was in charge and had a small majority in parliament he had to keep relying on deals with the Ulster Unionists to get legislation through due to tory rebels and the country lurched from one crisis to the next, Major's term in office was a disaster and that is with a small majority so imagine what a hung parliament lead by Cameron would be, there ould be no stability, Lib Dems would continually stamp their feet and threaten to bring down the government and economic stability would be non existent, worse than under Major

It is looking like a tory majority of between 170-200 the way things are going so its academic but hung parliament would make this country unattractive to overseas investors and to business

Exactly

Chris if you met Maggie she would lay into you big time and tell you to get off your ass and get a job
