What are the songs that you think deserved Top 40, but just missed out or didn't even chart?

I will start (naturally :heehee:)

Michelle Williams 'We Break the Dawn': (PEAK: 47) [CHART RUN: {47}->1 Week]

I honestly do not know/understand why this missed the Top 40  Had it been Beyonce or Kelly Rowland, would have been a Top 5 hit. It never get's old and I am genuinely shocked and saddened this missed the top 40 at LEAST :(

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OneRepublic 'Say (All I Need)': (PEAK: 51) [CHART RUN: 69-{51}-69->3 Weeks]

This was more a case of previous single(s) over shadowing the new single. Which is a REAL shame. This deserved to go Top 40, but with the radio and Music channels still heavily rotating their previous two singles 'Apologize' & 'Stop & Stare', it was doomed from the beginning!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kat DeLuna 'Run the Show': (PEAK: 41) [CHART RUN: {41}-42-59->3 Weeks]

Well, I for one was shocked it got as high as number 41. However, I did think it would make Top 40 once I saw it gain as much momentum as it did, aswell as having very good Video airplay. I was expecting to say this would be a big summer hit. It never happened :(

What are your favourites Top 40 hits that never were?

Masai - Do That Thang (2003, Chart Run: 42-OUT)

this was the third and final UK single from the floptastic British female duo who had originally been thought of as All Saints meets Savage Garden meets The Corrs with their first two singles Heaven & Hell, and Kick Back. The third single was a much catchier, pop/r&b track which topped my personal chart for 4 weeks and I was gutted to see it just miss the top 40 in early 2003 :(

I don't like 'We Break The Dawn' :P

Say (All I Need) does deserve Top 40... so as Run The Show, even if it was 'just' a scrape...

I got few...

Natty - July [Peak: 50-something]

- deserves more recognition!

Colbie Caillat - Bubbly [Peak: 50-something]

- as much as I was happy that it did better on the re-release, it really deserves Top 40...

Chase & Status ft. Kano - Against All Odds [Peak: 45]

- OMG! It didn't go Top 40... but it was the highest peaking single by them. This was #1 in my chart. :D

Ava Leigh - La La La [Peak: Not Top 75]

- my fav when it was the start of the year (C-listed on Radio 1), it didn't go anywhere unfortunately.

I'll be back for more. :D

Michelle Williams 'We Break the Dawn': (PEAK: 47) [CHART RUN: {47}->1 Week]

Tottally agree with you. That song was good, it deserved top 10. It's a shame that it missed the top 40.

Scissor Sisters - Kiss You Off #43 (1 week at the chart)

I think this song was really good, especially with Ana's vocals. Even though it was theirs 4th single I think it deserved at least top 40.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Today the Sun's on Us #64 (1 week at the chart)

This is one of my favorites from Sophie. It was the third single of an album very few people bought... Also it was her worse single performance.

Röyksopp and Robyn - The Girl and the Robot

It didn't chart yet, but it's getting released this week and the things are not looking good :(

Sam Sparro - 21st Century Life #44 (2 weeks at the chart)

It's a fun song. It was his second single but people were still playing attention to Black and Gold and this was forgotten,

KT Tunstall - Saving my Face #50 (2 weeks at the chart) and If Only #45 (2 weeks at the chart)

Those failed, I think, because people didn't care so much about her ( she wasn't the new cool artist now)

ah yes, the ultimate top 40 miss, I just don't understand how an excellent, worldwide hit (made top 5 in most countries) completely missed the top 40 here

if it came out again for a third time now, I still reckon it could do an I'm Yours

Sonny J - Handsfree :(

Mint song!

:o Oh , I though it charted somewhere it the top 30 ( I remember the fun video). It's was a nice song, but I see it didn't even charted in the top 75

Ting Tings - We Walk, a travesty it missed out.

Agreed, but it was their fifth single and I think it was download only (not sure). I'm always seeing on TV now in Portugal

Sonny J, Michelle Williams, Ava Leigh, Kat De Luna, KT Tunstell, i so agree!

A few others

Brandy - Right Here

Beverley Knight - No Mans Land

Jamelia - No More

Amy Studt - Nice Boys

Amy Studt - Nice Boys

I liked that song too. When I first saw her ( Euronews!?) I though she was like UK Miley but the song was interesting. Only peaked #90 I think

The Corrs "I Never Loved You Anyway" - their best single by far. Alanis-lite.

Friendly Fires "Skeleton Boy" - one of the best of the year so far.

Alanis Morisette "Eight Easy Steps" - well actually I can't remember if this missed the top 40 or just wasn't released here, but EITHER WAY.

And as people have already mentioned, Sonny J "Handsfree" and Royksopp/Robyn "The Girl And The Robot"

Does It Offend You, Yeah - Dawn Of The Dead [peak = 41]

Friendly Fires - Skeleton Boy [peak = 48]

Go Audio - She Left Me [peak = 41]

Nick Lachey - What's Left Of Me [peak = 47]

The Script - Talk You Down [peak = 47]

The Script - Before The Worst [peak = 96]

Ooh I remember that track, and I think one of the girls auditioned for the X Factor last year.

Annie - I Know Your Girlfriend Hates Me - for me. Peaked at #54 last summer but deserved Top-20.

Oh YEAHH! I remember thinking this was finally her big break in the UK charts. (Yeah I know 'Chewing Gum' reached top 30, but it didn't really have the staying power)
To be fair, you could put pretty much Annie's entire back catalogue on this list. Heartbeat :(
