May 1, 201015 yr Matt Smith was absolutely fantastic tonight. I've enjoyed his acting thoughout, but I thought he was stand out tonight. River didn't seem as good this week though, not enough of her really.
May 1, 201015 yr Has the Doctor kissed every (series) companion since Rose now? Strange given they apparently promised the Doctor would never be in a relationship with his companions back in the time of the original series.
May 1, 201015 yr Well he still technically hasn't. Kisses can be meaningless. He and Rose had an attraction but no relationship. Martha was unrequited, and Donna wasn't even interested. The Doctor doesn't even seem interested in Amy and she is just looking for an escape from her marriage.

He's also killed Captain Jack if he counts as a companion...
May 1, 201015 yr Author Fantastic episode - everything a 'part 2' should be. Matt and Karen are just brilliant together - if you watch confidential you can really see how much chemistry they have together! So the pandorica is opening :D Interesting that in the show Amy's actual wedding day is June 26th - I guess the series might end with the wedding taking place! Also very intrigued by who River has murdered. Surely I can't be the only one thinking it hinted at being the Doctor?! However that would all work I don't know yet :P
May 1, 201015 yr I was kinda underwhelmed to be honest :( Clearly I was the only one but I just feel that after a very good opening episode the second part just failed to deliver in the same way.
May 1, 201015 yr Too many of the single episode stories seem to be very rushed. The two-parters give more chance for a storyline to develop and this certainly benefitted from being s two-parter.

Agreed. I think the Dalek episode would have been better as a two-parter, as I always enjoy working out the mystery, but in that episode everything moved way too fast that I didn't have time!
May 2, 201015 yr At last for the first time in this series, a truly great episode, with a storyline where part 2 was better than part 1 (Unlike the RTD era, where the reverse always seemed to happen). Great acting, a great storyline, some great one liners, a bit of humour one minute, pathos the next, drama the next ... exactly what Dr Who should be about. In fact the only thing missing, (after last week's ending) was an animated weeping angel breaking the neck of an animated Graham Norton. 10/10 i couldnt DISAGREE more.... imho it lost its direction, continuity was awful (had he a coat on or not?) dont like river song...ugly... silly cliche 'girly trips in the wood' and is rescued at the last minute, ridiculous seduction scene, the angels supposed to move quickly but their heads turned slowly... they fell into the light after the gravity was off but the trees/leaves/branches stood still! matt smith still showing tennant traits.... i could go on...

The forest was artificial and attached to the ground, the angels simply fell into the crack, it didn't suck them in. As for the seduction scene I found it rather funny and far from ridiculous. It looks like you're only looking for negative things to say, you do make a point that the rescuing was silly, but then again you should be used to it by now as there's such silly rescues in lots of episodes since series 1 and we're on series 5?

May 2, 201015 yr Amazing episode! So enjoyed River! this is so gonna be Doctor who is murdered by her :( Also MAJOR WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO at them using my 21st birthday as the wedding's date <333 Edited May 2, 201015 yr by Ljósið

May 2, 201015 yr I agree with Mushy that there do appear to be continuity issues with the angels. I thought it was silly that they moved so slowly when trying to get Amy yet they are supposed to move much further distances in the blink of an eye. Talking of blinking, I really thought that Matt Smith blinked when one of the angels had it's arm around that guy's neck which should have been enough time to finish him off! Also the way that they attack has fundamentally changed, I never really understood why people were sent back in time last time around but this time they just killed people. I also felt that the setting of the ship didn't suit the enemies as well as the temple did, they seemed too detached from the surrounding environment for my liking and it lost a lot of the impact for me.[/moan] That said, I did enjoy both parts on the whole and it certainly was a step up from the previous episodes. Amy Pond is particularly likeable and she is definitely the highlight of the series to date. edit... one final groan... I didn't like the way they changed the rules regarding when they can move. One of the main things in Blink was that the Angels always covered their eyes because they couldn't move when in the line of sight of any of the other angels either (hence how they were trapped as stone at the end of the Sally Sparrow episode when the Tardis transported) yet in this two parter the angels were consistently frozen with their faces in view and other angels in their line of sight. I know it probably sounds like nitpicking but the rules regarding when the Angels could move were primarily what made them scary in the first place yet they were really diluted here. :( Edited May 2, 201015 yr by Dandy*
May 2, 201015 yr I now remembered! Angels indeed were unable to move when in the line of sight of other Angels! :o That's quite weird it's changed tbh. Maybe it's another kind of Weeping Angels? Oh and Dandy you're not the only one to have noticed Doctor blinking when the angel held this guy. I particularly remembered this scene as i found it strange. The whole conception and idea of Angels is brilliant, as was this episode, which - like the already not really famous pop star sang in her flop single - keep getting better from week to another, and i'm in no way moaning or anything like that about these slips but it was worth mentioning!
May 2, 201015 yr In the first part he said something about why they weren't displacing people in time and just killing them but I can't remember exactly. I've been really enjoying the series so far, Matt Smith has been excellent and I think I love Amy Pond
May 3, 201015 yr Have you said ANYTHING positive about this new series? Why do you keep watching  yes. try reading the thread before making daft remarks what is it about bj members? cant they understand the concept of wanting to watch various programmes in the hope of being entertained based on past highs? ive been a tv adict for 30 years longer then many of you... that doesnt make me 'better' or more 'right' but it does give me experience, so when i moan about progs like dr who, eastenders ... its because i can relate to times when these programmes were 'better' imho. i didnt particually like it, others did... thats fine by me!
May 3, 201015 yr Im not quite sure why you're all complaining about continuity errors; if you paid attention instead of whining you would have realised most of the "errors" you're pointing out were actually explained in the episode. As for the episode itself it wasn't as good as part one but it was still brilliant, apart from the last 5 minutes which kind of let it down. Really loving Matt Smith now, he's finally starting to become himself :D 9/10
May 3, 201015 yr I've been watching old episodes from Series 1 and 2, so to go from those straight into this episode seemed a bit of a comedown. It wasn't as good as last week's and I don't think it matched up to the majority of episodes from the first two series. There was just something a bit lame about the whole thing... it didn't help that it was less funny than previous episodes either. River was also annoying me by the end and I usually love her. 7/10
May 3, 201015 yr I've been watching old episodes from Series 1 and 2, so to go from those straight into this episode seemed a bit of a comedown. i too have been watching old progs, on youtube, but much further back! i prefer the 60's dr who to the current hyperbolic noisey programmes, but in the 'x factor' age when hype is the order of the day i guess i shouldnt expect anything less.
