Matt seems rather lovely and I like that clip. A little bit quirky like Tennant but not just a blatant copy. I think Matt Smith brings a lot of his character to the role from the looks of it, as he seems rather odd (in a nice way) himself. Looking forward to it ^_^

Love the William Hartnell reference with the library card

I didn't notice that to start with! Very clever  I love seeing little references like that popping up from time to time.

That episode is written by Toby Whithouse who created the brilliant Being Human :yahoo:

Loved it!

Matt Smith looks VERY promising indeed, as does Karen Gillan. Loving the new TARDIS and the new credits too. VERY VERY excited for the rest now :D

Totally agree! I loved that episode, and I am so relieved!

Well it had ups and downs but there was more of the former thankfully. Karen Gillen is nothing like I imagined, thank the lord. It was camper than ever! 8/10.

I thoroughly enjoyed tonights episode. I honestly did not think that I would like Matt Smith as the Doctor, but I thought he did a fantastic job! Karen Gillan was fantastic too, she's incredibly beautiful

I'll be looking forward to this each week ^_^

I quite enjoyed that. My mum complained there wasn't much story, but there is always a lot to fit in a first episode particularly when they're introducing a new Doctor and a new companion. We all loved Matt and Karen though. I think way too many people were quick to judge them on the basis that they were unknown actors. Seriously, give unknowns a chance, like here, I couldn't imagine stars doing it any better!
I loved tonight's episode. I was thinking that Matt and Karen wouldn't be that good, but I thought they were both great. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the series now!

Matt Smith = Patrick Troughton-esque. But more energetic. A huge sigh of relief from me.

Karen Gillian = very good as I expected.

But I think this opening episode already highlights the difference in old and new regimes.

Stephen Moffat is a superior script-writer than Russell T Davis, but is an inferior Director/Producer.

The episode was very good in places, but in others it was quite frankly boring ... as if I was watching SM's former stab at directing (Jekyll). I just hope the viewers don't do what they did to Jekyll and start switching off. The other negative was the cheaper CGI.

6.5/10

Firstly I thought the Doctor was a bit of a clown and a bit wet behind the ears on first impression, but there is room for improvement for the moment I stick with it. I love the new assistant, bit geeky in places, but its only the first episode, room for improvement as well.

As for the episode its simple to start off with, a bit of a lightweight in my opinion out of ten I say 5. There are better stories to come as I saw from the trailers which might grow on me.

And I loved the William Hartnell reference.

I loved it, although I was particularly worried about Matt I wasn't too sure about Karen but she surprised me. I think Matt's doctor has a lot more depth than David's.

As it was an introductory ep i'd give it a 8/10. Can't wait for the rest of the series.

This was very funny, with humorous little lines throughout, and Matt was quirky enough to be the Doctor yet Matt-Smith enough not to be a David Tennant repeat. I also thought the actress who played Amy Pond was good! The storyline was not bad, it was lacking at times and was as random and bizarre as ever but it'll get more intense/better as the series progresses I'm sure. I for one am relieved.

7.5/10

Suprisingly pleasant.

The opening epsiode of a new series always seems to be a bit dodgy - see the first episode of series 4, but this was actually quite good. The Doctor whilst at times, pushing slightly too much on being annoying but was good enough to keep me watching.

Amy Pond is brilliant though - I wasnt half as nervous about Karen as I was about Matt and she pulled it off well I think.

The storyline was nothing all that new but did the job well enough for an opening episode.

7/10

I liked it, the storyline was a bit all over the place, but as an introductory episode, a good start - the new assistant looks great :naughty:

Matt made a promising start, but it will take a while to get used to him

overall I'd say 8.5 out of 10

i must be watching summut else then, cos i thought it was pants. fed up with the tardis pyrotechnics, surely its beyond repare now... he was trying too hard to be tennant, same old same old storyline ... dont like him, he has less charisma then frankie on 'the door' and shes just......

troughtonesque?...my arse richard... i was alive when troughton was dr who and this guy is no troughton.

Just IMAGINE if Mushy could actually back up any of these points he supposedly dislikes...
