August 9, 200915 yr The difference is that he wasn't even here when the deadline was set...he hasn't been online since BuzzJack's come back up :( I'm willing to allow this given the exceptional circumstances... By not punishing him will potentially allow his song qualifying.. which if it does and he STILL doesn't come on here will then take a place of someone who has actively been here and you know will vote.. Just seems a bit silly.. but fair enough if he qualifys with a 33% deduction too.
August 9, 200915 yr Ah ok :) I just thought since Tom aka. KoS wasn't back here before the deadline either and he couldn't enter.. Edited August 9, 200915 yr by Jerick
August 9, 200915 yr Author Ah ok :) I just thought since Tom aka. KoS wasn't back here before the deadline either and he couldn't enter.. True, but he was offered the option to vote. By the time he turned up I had already started the semi
August 9, 200915 yr Oh, I'm not saying he shouldn't be deducted points - that's inevitable, otherwise he'll have the advantage of not having had a round where he's GUARANTEED to not receive votes. We did debate the subtleties of what punishment someone who hasn't been on in a while should get compared to intention non-voters after Addygate this time last year but I've long since forgotten them and it's reverted to generic punishment since...
August 9, 200915 yr Author So you're saying he should be allowed to vote, but then be deducted points anyway? That doesn't make much sense to me tbh... :( If it does happen, do I round up to the nearest point?

It's fair enough that he hasn't been aware of the official deadline so I'd say let him have until midday but the 33% deduction should always happen without fail.

The punishment for intentional non-voting surely is still disqualification? This would only apply to the final anyways because I fail to see why somebody would intentionally not vote in a semi when their song is still in contention.
August 9, 200915 yr No, I'm saying if he doesn't vote then obviously points should be deducted, but we'll have to know if people still want the 33% deduction or whatever we came up with last year for cases like this...I *think* it was a 20% deduction or somesuch, but I can't be sure. Peter should know seeing as I had about an hour long MSN convo with him mulling over potential ideas for it
August 9, 200915 yr But, if Tom has to prep for this, how can he prep if he may or may not be getting more votes?
August 9, 200915 yr Author Well I'm doing it anyway. The thing is, if I know by midday what I'm doing with it, I can finish the prep when I get home tomorrow afternoon. It was my idea anyway
August 9, 200915 yr He only has one more vote to receive Matt, and by the sounds of it there are only two potential qualifiers so I don't think it's too hard...semi prepping takes barely any time, all you need is a list. You don't even need participation order, it's just something fancy we add, and even that only takes about a minute to whip up with random.org. The punishment for intentional non-voting surely is still disqualification? This would only apply to the final anyways because I fail to see why somebody would intentionally not vote in a semi when their song is still in contention. Yeah, it's been invoked twice since then...
August 9, 200915 yr Author He only has one more vote to receive Matt, and by the sounds of it there are only two potential qualifiers Huh? 26 songs will be qualifying... the votes removal might make no difference... But if Lotopialand does vote, he could potentially affect the table. I know about random.org, in fact I have already drawn the spots for the AQs, and will do semi 2 before bed :kink:
August 9, 200915 yr Hi folks sorry i havent been able to vote, i did listen to all the songs and everything then buzzjack went down and i couldnt get it to work for days then ive had the luck of my own internet failing to work so its only just got up and running about an hour ago or so.

I know about random.org, in fact I have already drawn the spots for the AQs, and will do semi 2 before bed :kink: I know, I was saying that I'm guessing Lotopialand are on course to qualify if they vote, but not to do so if they don't - hence why I say there are two potential qualifiers as I personally doubt Lotopialand are near the bottom of qualifying :P

Peter should know seeing as I had about an hour long MSN convo with him mulling over potential ideas for it  Yeah, it's been invoked twice since then... Yes exactly, so what I was saying is there is a difference in punishment for non-voting in the final, but that differentiation is not nescessary in a semi, where the situation of intentional non-voting is unlikely. In which case I personally think 33% is the ideal amount. Everybody knows that is the consequence of not voting, whether or not they're unable to, and is another to make the difference between qualification and non-qualification, but could still save a song which is towards the top of the scoreboard.
August 10, 200915 yr Author Fair enough. Anyway, not needed now, all votes are in :w00t: Tune in for results from 7pm tonight :D
August 10, 200915 yr why it can't be from 6 pm :snif:..I am 3 hours and 30 minutes ahead of you guys
August 10, 200915 yr Author Mostly cos I already said 7  But also cos I still have a ton of prep to do when I get back from work :(
