Posted August 4, 200916 yr Katy Perry 'a f***ing thieving $l*t' Jill Sobule has accused Katy Perry of stealing her song title for her breakthrough hit 'I Kissed A Girl'. The singer-songwriter recorded a track of the same name in 1995, albeit with completely different lyrics, music and instrumentation, but noted that "you can't copyright a title... bummer". Sobule told The Rumpus: "I was, 'well, good for her'. It did bug me a little bit, however, when she said she came up with the idea for the title in a dream. "In truth, she wrote it with a team of professional writers and was signed by the very same guy that signed me in 1995. I have not mentioned that in interviews as I don't want to sound bitter or petty... 'cause that's not me." She added: "Okay, maybe, if I really think about it, there were a few jealous and p***ed off moments. "So here goes, for the first time in an interview: F**k you Katy Perry, you f**king stupid, maybe 'not good for the gays', title thieving, haven't heard much else, so not quite sure if you're talented, f**king little $l*t." http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/a169175/...-$l*t.html That's just pathetic -_- Edited October 25, 201014 yr by Chriss_S
August 4, 200916 yr She took the TITLE  It sounds NOTHING LIKE Jill Sobule's song, this does actually define bitter...
August 4, 200916 yr Author That's just like saying Daniel Merriweather stole the title 'Change' from Sugababes or Taylor Swift :drama:

August 4, 200916 yr It's Katy Perry's own fault really for making the ludicrous claim that she came up with the idea "in a dream" when in reality she's been manufactured by a team of writers and producers.... What a crock.... Perry is almost certainly a big, fat, fake.... It cant be coincidence that both Perry and Sobule were signed up by the same guy..... Pretty obvious to me that Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" is just some recycled idea from the mid-90s.... Nothing to do with her being supposedly "inspired" by a dream... What nonsense this girl speaks..... Sobule does sound rather bitter, but she's got a right to be slightly annoyed about this, especially when Perry herself is talking blatant sh!te in interviews about the inspiration for the song..... Perry is, in fact, every bit as manufactured as Girls Aloud, or The Saturdays, and pretends to be this credible female singer-songwriter a'la Joni, Tori or Alanis.....
August 4, 200916 yr LOL its a song title, the guy who signed her probably remembered it from when he signed whatshername. Thief, erm... no. This is just a very bad attempt from whatshername to get some media attention.
August 4, 200916 yr How petty is it that she says she doesn't want to be seen as bitter or petty as "that's not her", but then says all of that stuff! And it WAS just a title  There are many songs with similar or identical titles.
August 4, 200916 yr What an attention-seeking, bitter bitch. As I absolutely adore everything that Katy does, this is quite irritating. But, anyway, Jill didn't turn it into a hit, Katy did, so I'm sure Katy couldn't give a toss what she thinks.
August 4, 200916 yr LOL its a song title, the guy who signed her probably remembered it from when he signed whatshername. Thief, erm... no. Katy Perry might not be a "thieving $l*t", but neither was she "inspired" by some dream she had as she rather pretentiously claims..... "Pretentious Hack" would perhaps be a more fitting description of Ms Perry.....
August 4, 200916 yr Who the f*** is Jill Sobule? By the same token, 14 months ago, who the fukk was 'Katy Perry'....? Unless of course you can actually say you were a big fan of her Gospel album she did under her real name, Katy Hudson some seven years previously..... You think that just because something is hyped up and it shifts units that it actually has any credibility....? "I Kissed A Girl" would be annoying and incredibly fake sung by anyone who isn't an actual lesbian or bisexual.... In fact, it's a song written by a bunch of blokes in their 40s who gave it to some pretty 20-something year old girl to sing because fake Lipstick "Lesbians" are "HAWT".....
August 4, 200916 yr If it was the title "I bet you look good on the dancefloor" then it could be a talk about it, but 4 words, 2 of which are 'I' and an indefinite article. I mean really? :( Edited August 4, 200916 yr by Pavel

August 4, 200916 yr Jill Sobule is spot on. Not only the title, but the lyrical content are highly unoriginal. As for singer/songwriter Jill Sobule, she has released seven studio albums in the past 20 years. Her debut album produced by Todd Rundgren 1990 "Things Here Are Different" was nominated for a Grammy for best alternative album as it featured the college radio classics "Too Cool to Fall In Love" & "Livin' Color". Whilst her 1995 album "Jill Sobule" featured her most famous song "I Kissed A Girl" a story-song about a lesbian flirtation between two suburban girlfriends which became an unlikely radio success thanks in part to a comedic music video featuring beefcake male model Fabio and was nominated for an MTV music award for best alternative video. "Supermodel" (sample lyric: "I didn't eat yesterday... and I'm not gonna eat today... and I'm not gonna eat tomorrow... 'Cause I'm gonna be a supermodel") managed to both send up and celebrate American teenage lifestyles, and became well-known after its inclusion in 1995's hit teen comedy film Clueless, also received video and radio airplay. Jill Sobule - I Kissed A Girl (1995) Throughout her career she has worked with the likes of Todd Rundgren, Warren Zevon, Tom Morello, Steve Earle, Richard Barone, Don Henley, Joe Jackson, Lloyd Cole & Sarah Silverman.
August 4, 200916 yr Weren't you the one praising I Kissed A Girl and Katy herself to the absolute high heavens a year ago?
August 4, 200916 yr Throughout her career she has worked with the likes of Todd Rundgren, Warren Zevon, Tom Morello, Steve Earle, Richard Barone, Don Henley, Joe Jackson, Lloyd Cole & Sarah Silverman. So, to answer the question posed earlier.... THIS is who the fukk Jill Sobule is.....
