The instrumental wasn't Akcent's to begin with. It's based on a traditional Azeri accordion riff!

glad that at least someone on this forum knows about origin of the song.

 

Here's the video where Edward Maya signs copyright agreement with original composer. Shame that he did that only after using the melody without author's permission.

Wtf?!! I didn't know that this song had such an old history... I thought we're talking about 2008 but it's 1989...!
This song brings tears to my eyes. It's sad and reminds me of last weekend.

The remix is good, not quite as good as the lovely original, but they still picked the wrong time of year to release that remix, such a summery song.

There's a new version of the song in India titled Love Stereo Again, released at T-Series. Looks like Edward Maya gained a little bit of attention there after remixing Pritam's Kesariya:
