This contest is supposed to be fun - but people complaining about cheapness is ruining the fun of this competition - why should it matter if somebody decided to send Black Eyed Peas with I Gotta Feeling now, instead of complaining about how you find it cheap, just don't vote for it, rather than starting something that will end up causing frustration.

I was offended when Marina & The Diamonds was regarded as cheap; and I was hacked off when I was heavily criticiosed for sending Tinchy Stryder ft Amelle with a track that has subsequently failed to reach the Buzzjack Personal Chart Top 10 despite making UK#1.

I'm not entirely sure Eva Simons isn't cheap, there was ridiculous amounts of hype surrounding it (especially in here) which meant it was a hell of a lot cheaper than most entries, despite not being all that cheap. It's realitively inspired contest this time...

Well, I don't think the boat has quite sailed for that yet. I don't deal with the singles chart but it was at #11 last week, still climbing and wasn't far from Cascada at #10. (who are falling) As it reached #1 in the UK last week, I would expect that to have an effect on this weeks chart.

 

And as for Kath, I didn't say Eva was cheaper than Brandy. I think I said how is it any less inspired than Brandy. I don't get why some people think sending an old song, that missed the top 10, is less inspired than something that's coming out within a month which is headed for the high end of the top 40.

 

Now that it appears that Eva is flopping (though the track managed to reach the top 1000 on UK iTunes when listed as Rihanna ft. Lady GaGa, it just need a promo boost) I don't think it's such a big deal as perhaps Mini Viva, Dolly Rockers and such. I always did think people were slightly overhyping it and trying to get on the bandwagon early, in case she blew up GaGa style in a few months. She still could but I don't think it's anything more than an average GaGa copy. Demo indeed.

 

funnily enough, I bought Never Leave You on single this week, it became the 'anthem of my holiday' if you like! see I did give it points when Nonsuch sent it (2 if I recall), not because I was penalising it, but because the other danger of sending a pre-release the minute it leaks as that it gives very little time for the song to grow...I like Never Leave You a whole lot more now than I did two months ago ^_^ this contest is all about good timing I think, if you are going to send a song like that, and Kath has pretty much got it spot on, by sending something she knew of as only a demo, which is likely to become 'the next big thing' although Kath was unaware that this would happen...I can validate this as she PM'd saying that she was considering the song long before I'd ever heard of it, or heard of Eva Simons...

 

I think Silly Boy is a whole lot more Disturbia than anything Gaga's done too! Although maybe not quite as good as that, as that's my favourite Rihanna single to date :wub: but it could still be an easy top ten in the UK with mass promo, if not perhaps the all encompassing No.1 that everyone else expects it to be...it's not quite up there with Poker Face and Umbrella :o it is a very good song though ^_^

People are giving such high ratings, because most people have a varied taste in music, however you seem to only like rock which only 1 other country (that I know of) is a hardcore rock fan :drama:

@Addy: I wanted to be in the final too and I thought with Sheri's song I'm gonna make it through, but in the end the song reached the lowest score of all of my entries so far (or second lowest, I don't know yet) :(

I don't really care if a song is from a well-known artist, or from an unknown (for me). If I like the song, it gets points, if I don't like it, I don't give points.

But I had to respond to Kath saying that I was labelling Eva Simons as cheap; when the whole fukkin' point I was making was that it was the very complete opposite.

 

Besides the track I would like to enter in XX is not exactly an obscure choice.

I criticised your change in approach to the contest, which to be quite frank made me sick. Not the track itself. The track is sensational, you sent it for the totally wrong reasons, hence the boycott and criticism.

I don't see how Mdice are near so near the bottom of everyone's odds/predicta this time round actually :o even despite the fact that they NEVER miss the top ten, it's hardly the type of song that screams FLOP to me so I'm interested to see why loads of people think it will be bottom ten?
