Posted August 25, 200915 yr Seems to be really serious crowd trouble at the cup match tonight, at least one person stabbed. Trouble before and during the game, loads of pitch invasions. Looks like the neanderthals have returned.
August 25, 200915 yr Well anyone with half a brain would have expected no more than this. From what i've heard though, the police seemed to have dealt with all alright though, but obviously something like this was always going to happen... it's a shame really, but it just highlights even more have much hooliganism is still quite a major part of football.
August 25, 200915 yr West Ham and Millwall is one of the biggest rivalries in English football. And the fact it's the first time in years they've played each other doesn't help. I'm glad Millwall are so far down the leagues to be honest, films like Green Street and Football Factories aren't completely made up. I also don't understand why it was allowed to be played at such a time. If it was a League match the latest it would kick off is mid-day on a Saturday, but because it's in the cup it's fine to stage the game after most pubs have been open for at leat 8 hours!! Still, if it helps Millwall London derbies be staged behind closed doors...
August 25, 200915 yr I agree on the timing issue - epic f*** up from the FA. Surely police must have been scouting message boards as well? Well, they probably didn't tbh.
August 25, 200915 yr The only surprise about this are if people are surprised this happened. The reports are coming through every minute and it looks like Millwall fans were responsible for the majority of the incidents. Whilst unconfirmed reports (at the moment) have at least two stabbings and over 20 people taken to hospital. Whilst Millwall fans singing a sick song about Callum Davenport and the father of the Hammers player whose father died on the way to their last match are pretty disgusting. Why the FA can't find an excuse to permanently kick Millwall out of Football for good remains a mystery to me.
August 25, 200915 yr Author I was watching some of the pictures on Sky sports, and when West Ham scored, some fans raced onto pitch and gestured right in the faces of Millwall players, doesn't help much. Looks like the stewards had their work cut out.
August 25, 200915 yr Well it's Millwall so what do you expect? If only it were possible to kick them out!

Looks like the stewards had their work cut out. To be fair you couldn't blame them for retaliating. When you sing sick and twisted songs like that it gets fans riled up. Let's just hope Millwall get a HEAVY punishment from the FA.
August 25, 200915 yr Whats the betting it will be west ham who get the punishment as it was there fans who invaded the pitch... This game should have been played earlier in the day tbh, there was always going to be trouble with this game.
August 25, 200915 yr From what i've been reading, West Ham fans have been just as bad as Millwall fans. It takes two to tango. Millwall fans are generally (well..) a horrible bunch of inbred twats, but look at the fat middle aged bast*rds running about on the pitch after West Ham scored. They act like tough men, yet they stand away from the Millwall fans. Absolute fannies. I've read Millwall only got 1,500 tickets? Bad idea. No wonder there was so much trouble. Just think of the Millwall players on the pitch when the WH fans invaded - they must have been scared to death. If any random family etc. gets hurt by all this violence whilst trying to avoid it then something needs to be done about it, not just the token £20,000 fine from the FA. Hope both teams get huge fines and thrown out on the competition/banned from entering. All the films like Football Factory, Green Street, The Firm etc. do nothing but glorify hooliganism and it's shocking. It DOES happen there's no doubt about that, but then you get all these hormonal teenagers having orgasams about fighting at football matches... Huge respect to Jack Collinson. Can't imagine what it must have been like for him.
August 26, 200915 yr Watched the news about this unfold at about 9ish last night. Not surprising that it happens at a game featuring Millwall. The fans have let down their football club though, they are a good side in their league. I would have tipped them to be having another crack at the play offs this season based on last season's performance.
August 26, 200915 yr My daughter's friend lives near the ground, on a road just opposite, and she says it was very scary and no-one dare go out. They were running down their road too.

West Ham fans are just as bad though, on Sunday they were singing "you should have died with your brother" at Jermaine Defoe who's brother was murdered, particularly distasteful given it came just a day after one of their own was stabbed tbf on KUMB West Ham fans were laying into the ones that were singing about Defoe and they were a minority but the chant was audible right round the ground on Sunday so West Ham can't cry foul about songs about Davenport really
August 27, 200915 yr Im surprised i heard nothing about this considering i was like 1 MINUTE AWAY FROM WHERE IT HAPPENED. I heard a few police cars and a few shouts and choppers but i thought it would be the same as any West Ham game.. Boy was i wrong. I did notice that the local wine bar had "West Ham Fans Only" though... Edit: Just looking through some pictures now, i may actually KNOW some of the people involved in the riot. Scratch that. I actually DO know someone who was in the riot and ended up beating people. Its on his FACEBOOK of all places.
August 28, 200915 yr what do expect with brain dead footy fans? i think its the ONLY sport you get such moronic behaviour... footy? you can keep it, along with all the morons that it attracts (no not EVERY footy fan is a moron.... but 1 is enough) much as i hate cricket and golf... them fans know how to behave... let alone athletics whos fans cheer and applaud ANY athlete, regardless of country, who performs at their best...

There's no comparison between the sports. Golf and athletics are individual sports so there's no team loyalty. Cricket rivalry is largely on an international level with close rivals (e.g. England and Australia) thousands of miles apart. County cricket attracts very few spectators so it's hardly surprising that there's no trouble. There's no excuse for what happened on Tuesday night but your statement is just plain daft. Football is the most popular team sport in England. So it's not surprising that it has the worst crowd trouble. If tiddly-winks had millions of supporters, it would probably attract the sort of mindless morons who caused the trouble this week.
