Oh my Rich, again, we rarely disagree but I found ITC SO much more instant than MAGIC! After just one listen to the clip on PJ a few weeks ago I was hooked, and I find it near impossible to get the chorus, the 'nothing can stop us' hook, and the second verse out of my head  So yeah, here's hoping for a shock win :kink: HEAVEN knows we're overdue a proper (i.e. Royksopp don't count Ben :smoke:) male win twenty contests in :(

Oh, and off-topic, but you'll NEVER GUESS what happened today :o On Lightwater Valley radio they played Glorious...then Boys & Girls. I thought this amazing enough in itself, but when two or three songs after they played JUNGLE DRUM I actually had a fit and it was all I could do to stop myself from running to visitor services and DEMANDING to know whether they'd suddenly hired you, or at least were participants in the BJSC with taste :kink: Unfortunately, rules stopped me from leaving my post, so I never found out the reasoning behind the mini-Rontvia fest that went on :(

how odd, it took me a good 5 or 6 listens to remember anything apart from the 'nothing can stop us' hook! I agree that we need a proper male win :D I wouldn't be upset if you won with this as I wouldn't say it's a case of 'Rontviashouldawouldacoulda' as I prefer the Anna Abreu song so it would have been pointless for me to send a track I didn't like quite as much

that sounds AMAZING, you're right, I was hired last month and was having a Rontvia hour :P well, not quite, it was just my musical twin on the air quite clearly :heehee: it's like the Quotosibb fest that was on Asda FM once before! Talking of Quotosibb, Aaron will be pleased to know that I was playing Black Butta over the speakers today whilst on my half an hour covering the Music & Video desk and a customer asked me who it was because she loved it! I told her that it was Beverley Knight, so they bought a cheap album of hers that we are selling called 'The Collection' even though Black Butta isn't on there...she said that she would download Black Butta from iTunes later, as she asked me to write down the name of the song for her so she didn't forget :funky: BJSC appeal is huge in Brighton :kink:

Have written down Aaron's e-mail/BJ contacts on that list? :kink:

Edited by Mıscha

unfortunately not :( she was probably in her mid-late 30's too so potentially a bit too old for Aaron, depending on what he looks for in a woman

In Sandefjord too  I can't go to the shoppingmalls without listening to something BJSC related

sometimes not even school

That story made me LOL when I thought about the beam it must bring to Aaron's cute little face

apparently not this month

the next time I try out a male artist perhaps? although Example is about as different a male act that you can send to BJSC, I don't see how I can find anyone less BJSC friendly than him

I would do them but I haven't had a chance (and probably won't have time) to listen to all of semi 2 yet

OMG I don't know if that makes me more pleased or gutted. It kinda highlights how "Black Butta" should have been a single and could have been big if it got that reaction after a supermarket play. :o I think it could have won her over some new fans, people in the BJSC liked it enough and none of her other songs have done well here.

On the plus side, that's one more potential fan for her. Though you should have told her to wait a week for the new studio album, rather than buying that cheap ex-label compilation. :(

LOL, no, Bev is just undiscovered by most. -_-

even I liked it! such a strong song, very different to what she usually releases, she was mad not to even give it a chance as a single...it sounded so powerful on the loudspeaker, her vocals are consistently brilliant but most of her material underwhelms me, at least the singles do but I'm not going to hunt out albums of artist's whose singles I'm not keen on

I didn't tell her to buy it :heehee: she asked if we had any Beverley in stock and that's all we had...at least she's more likely to buy the new album based on that :funky:

Exactly, definitely one of her best songs. I've never been sure why they didn't release it as I wasn't following her closely at the time. But I heard it was one she performed it as a teaser on some of her GH shows and I heard it was the single before they switched it to "No Man's Land". I like to blame the label for it, she must have liked it enough to perform it live on Jools?!

It's a shame her material underwhelms you, but I suppose if you don't like her sort of music it can't be helped. At least you acknowledge that she has a brilliant voice. "Affirmation" is her best album, though I don't expect you'll like that either, I remember being gutted in the Woolworths closing down sale that it was 90% at £3 and still no one was picking it up. :(

Oh right, I'm surprised you even had that actually, didn't think supermarkets would pick it up. Doubt they'll stock her album. I just hope she even knows there's an album coming out, it's not very well promoted so far. :(

well it could have been Phil I suppose, but he hates Glorious so maybe not :heehee:

And i'm stuck in hell on earth Scotland

True. I wonder when the next time he'll not like a Rontvian entry will be..

My diary says the 12th of Never, approximately.

Easy, just send Cradle Of Filth Rich.

Tbh i think the only set of odds received so far have overrated me a bit... For once i'm actually expecting to do badly: for all my superflops i expected/hoped to finish midtable :(
