Posted August 31, 200916 yr A four-way battle to top the singles chart this Sunday has broken out with newly-issued hits from Sugababes and Jay-Z taking on the current top two by Dizzee Rascal and David Guetta. At this stage in the week Sugababes’ Island-issued Get Sexy has established a narrow lead over its competitors as the trio chase a sixth UK number one single in their own right and seven including their Walk This Way pairing with Girls Aloud. Their nearest challenger is Jay-Z whose first Roc Nation single via Atlantic Records, Run This Town, is aiming to give the American his first-ever UK chart-topper in his own right. He has previously topped the chart twice, but only as a featured artist, firstly in 2006 with his wife Beyonce on Déjà vu and a year later on Rihanna’s Umbrella. Dizzee Rascal’s Dirtee Skank-issued Holiday and the Positiva/Virgin-released Sexy Chick by David Guetta featuring Akon, which sat at one and two on the chart announced last Sunday, are currently the week’s third and fourth top sellers. Meanwhile, Hand Me Down/Columbia’s Kings Of Leon are set to make a return to the Top 10 with their 2008 chart-topper Sex On Fire after it was performed on X Factor by contestant Jamie Archer. Sales of the track are further being helped by the band’s Reading/Leeds festival appearance being televised, a factor also aiding sales of the follow-up hit Use Somebody increasing by 177.8% on the week so far, while their album Only By The Night’s sales have more than doubled to place it as the closest rival to Arctic Monkeys to top the albums chart. Lady GaGa will further stretch her run of hits this coming weekend with Wale’s Interscope/Polydor-issued hit Chillin, which features the double chart-topper, on course to debut inside the Top 20. Other Top 40-bound entries should include Hed Kandi-handled Booty Luv’s Say It and One Night Only by Columbia act Deena Jones & The Dreams. Domino’s Arctic Monkeys are likely to spend a second week at one on the albums chart with Humburg as it leads Kings Of Leon by more than 5,000 sales with Positiva/Virgin’s David Guetta claiming the week’s third top seller so far with One Love. Mercury act Noah & The Whale are expected to have the week’s highest albums entry with The First Days Of Spring presently the week’s eighth top seller, while other acts debuting will include fellow Mercury act Just Jack, Columbia’s 7 Worlds Collide, Silver Arrow-signed Black Crowes, Backstage Alliance’s Wildhearts and VP/Atlantic’s Sean Paul. ================================= Top 40 Only Singles http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/2717468.JPG 1 & 38 Sugababes 22,277 (combined total) 2 Jay-Z/Rihanna/Kanye 19,204 3 Dizzee Rascal 17.7k 4 David Guetta 16.6k 5 Black Eyed Peas 12.5k Top 10 6 Kings Of Leon [sOF] Top 15 Wale ft. September 1, 200916 yr Gotta be Get Sexy surely? Whatever side of the debate you're on I hope we can all be united in saying that Run This Town is a really average song...
September 1, 200916 yr Gotta be Get Sexy surely? Whatever side of the debate you're on I hope we can all be united in saying that Run This Town is a really average song... Sharon Corr for #1 :snif: all three (Get Sexy, Holiday, Run This Town) are good songs, but nowhere near the personal best of any of the artists involved and therefore the No.1 should go to Remedy by default :kink:
September 1, 200916 yr Run This Town NEEDS to be #1. Get Sexy is total shite. Wale for top 10  Then Lady GaGa will have a perfect streak of five T10s (assuming LoveGame makes it which I'm not absolutely convinced it will). Well, unless you count Beautiful, Dirty, Rich which reached #83 with no promo and no official single release... KoL for top 10 too :w00t: Jamie T and Friendly Fires for top 30 please? :( Edited September 1, 200916 yr by B-rye
September 1, 200916 yr Run This Town is a really average song... In all fairness alot of the records that have been top 10 in the last few months could be described as average but hasnt stopped them getting to number one Damn you Jay-Z, god awful tripe like this needs banning from the charts, and Kings of leon going back into the top 10...i mean really if you havent already go the album why do you need to buy the single again even if it is the R&L effect Oh well, least Sugababes could get their first number 2 record!! The only thing that will make a rubbish chart better would be for Friendly Fires to get top 40 Arctics will be number one for 2 weeks aswell in the albums methinks
September 1, 200916 yr Author Oh... btw... if there is any Sugababes vs Girls Aloud argy bargy in here, any day of the week, I won't bother posting any mids whatsoever for the week, I hope I've made myself crystal clear. It only takes one person to ruin it for everyone. Its a fair warning.
September 1, 200916 yr Well, Sugababes won't surely be #2 just because they are #2 in iTunes. But who knows what will be by the end of the week...
September 1, 200916 yr 1 Arctic Monkeys 2 Black Eyed Peas 3 Calvin Harris 4 David Guetta ABCD. Surprised KoL aren't top 5 on albums, but I'm sure they are top ten at least. Jay-Z had a late start getting to iTunes #1 - I reckon he'll be up to #2 tomorrow and #1 on Friday.
September 1, 200916 yr Screw the babes V Jay Z debate. The real thing we should be discussing is how come that awful Wale song is actually doing quite good? I know Lady GaGa sings a few lines, but her contribution is awful. And the rest of the 'song' is diabolical :/
September 1, 200916 yr Author yay for Sugas! Hopefully they will remain #1... errr... nope that was just guess work to speed things up.... oops I forgot to shade the relevant posts -_- that got you going :P
September 1, 200916 yr I think it will be this today: 1: Sugababes - GS 2: Dizzee - Holiday 3: JayRiKanye - RTT 4: Sexy Bitch 5: BEP Though i think JayZ/RiRi/Kanye will be #1 by the end of the week.
September 1, 200916 yr Sugababes will definitely be #1 today (I think :kink:), but if Jay Z keeps increasing his lead on iTunes then he'll probably take #1 by the end of the week, must say, I'm not really a fan of either though :( Or Holiday.
September 1, 200916 yr Get Sexy is #1, with 20.3k shifted so far. :) How dya know? hope it can stick come sunday :D
