After the first week of public voting, La Vuvuzela, Burning Hearts and Anika Moa have all been withdrawn from 'on_a_mission; rontvia_twentyfour//' the Rontvian selection for the twenty fourth BJSC to be held in Quotosibb. British artist Stella's ska-pop song 'Underground' received overwhelming support in the public vote and moves through to the 'superfinal' along with a jury wildcard selection 'Backseat' by Swedish group Staygold along with American's Spank Rock and Lady Tigre and long time Rontvian selection veteran, Swedish singer Salem, now going under a psuedonym, Damien Adore. Both songs are set to crash into the Rontvian top ten when the new charts are revealed tomorrow, and a decision will be reached shortly - one thing's for sure though, generic Scandi-pop these songs are not...

After a few months of typical Scandi-pop, FSR Rontvia have welcomed back a quirkier pop sound for XXIV last seen on entries from Beautiful Small Machines, The Sound Of Arrows and Blank feat Young Ivy...Backseat is a collaboration between Swedish producers Staygold, Swedish male singer Salem Al Fakir who has featured in the Rontvian national final beforehand with Astronaut, US male rapper Spank Rock and legendary American female artist Lady Tigra. FSR Rontvia welcomes these four artists to the fold, and hopes that everyone will enjoy Backseat, an electrotrash stormer owing as much to Prince as it does to contemporary electro music, as much as we do. The single has debuted at #4 on the Rontvian charts and is likely to climb next week.

I said I was going for something different! As much as I adore Caroline/Shackles etc... I don't want to become typecast as the 'pedestrian Scandi-pop country' so I throw in these sorts of things every now and then :wub: I know they generally do worse than my typical entries but I'm Going For Your Brother, M.A.G.I.C. and Robots In Love doing well are far more special to me than doing well with acts like Sanna Nielsen/Caroline Jonsson/Sibel etc who like Aaron once said 'provide the typical monthly top 5 Scandi-pop entry' that everyone soon forgets about :lol:

Yeah completely agree with you. Judging by this contest so far, I think we're moving into the "indie/alt" era. It was coming soon enough, this will fit right in. I think you're pretty safe for a Top 10 with this so far. But many more pop countries are due to confirm so don't quote me on the "pretty safe for Top 10" quote just yet :heehee:

A good position isn't really the aim for this, just differentiation in my entries really - and hoping people will be introduced to it and love it as much as I do obviously! I guess loads of the indie countries have confirmed early and then countries like Tinnmark that never send indie are doing so this month :o but it's probably just a coincidence - all of the other entries now will probably be pure pop :heehee:

It was between this and that Stella song I showed you but I love this song so much more so it made sense - Damien Adore (Salem) is one of my favourite artists at this moment in time and I've been waiting for him to have a killer song so I could send him to BJSC :wub:

7th or 9th would be perfection - I haven't finished in either of these places yet despite countless appearances in other positions :heehee: I need a trade-off with Kopecka or Ashton I think, 7th and 9th is a favourite position of theirs :kink:
