Posted September 6, 200915 yr The BBC are thinking of inviting BNP leader Nick Griffin on to an edition of QT in the near future. The problem they have is that many politicians from other parties have said they won't appear if he's on. So, should the BBC call their bluff and invite him on? Discuss please. The BBC is supposed to be politically impartial and the BNP is threatening court action if they're not allowed on and rightly so in my opinion as the Greens and UKIP have been on the panel in the past. My view is that we live in a Democracy and as the BNP got a million votes in the local elections then yes, let's see what he has to say. If others won't appear then tough, let him have the hour to himself. Edited September 6, 200915 yr by Crazy Chris
September 6, 200915 yr Author From Digital Spy: The BBC has confirmed it may invite British National Party leader Nick Griffin to appear on a future edition of the Question Time programme. A spokesman said the BBC was bound by the rules to treat all political parties with "due impartiality". Talks are being held with other parties, some of whom have previously refused to share a platform with the BNP because of its policies on race. But the BBC says no parties can dictate who should not be included on the show.
September 6, 200915 yr I think it's the right decision. Banning the BNP from that sort of platform would have generated plenty of coverage and risked turning the BNP into martyrs once again. There's also the usual democracy / free speech arguments. Tempting though it is, if we start censoring the BNP, where do we draw the line? And like Ashford says, it's hardly like the BNP are going to be given an easy ride. I can't see that they're going to come off well in this sort of environment. I still have faith in the majority of the British public to retain some common sense with regards to these. Although I think the BNP have a right to say what they want to say, I will still reserve the right to think that they are all hateful scumbags who should be deported for being public nuisances.
September 7, 200915 yr We can't deport our own citizens tho :( However if there is ever a time i would support the use of a place like Guantanamo Bay but not quite so severe, its for people like Nick Griffen. [i mean a uber uber prison not on our soil where we can lock him up and throw away the key. i don't condone torture, not even of scum]
September 7, 200915 yr as long as they are a legitimate political party (or should that be 'legal'?) then yes... the bigger question is though SHOULD they be a legitimate political party?
September 7, 200915 yr Author as long as they are a legitimate political party (or should that be 'legal'?) then yes... the bigger question is though SHOULD they be a legitimate political party? Of course they should. They're now allowing black people to join the party.
September 7, 200915 yr I want to see this happen Want to see the racist c**t ridiculed and exposed for the vile specimen he is on live natonal tv He will be as popular among the audience and the panel as Osama Bin Laden would be in a synagogue Best way to deal with him as opposed to shooting him which would be nice I admit is to have him utterly torn apart and exposed for what he is infront of millions
September 7, 200915 yr Best way to deal with him as opposed to shooting him which would be nice I admit is to have him utterly torn apart and exposed for what he is infront of millions I agree. Would love to see the audience for this tear Nick Griffin a new one.
September 7, 200915 yr I agree. Would love to see the audience for this tear Nick Griffin a new one. Absolutely I would love to see a BNP supporter join BJ some time, I would enjoy more than any thread there has been totally destroying his opinions and making him look the complete and utter cock he is and I am sure Scott/Rob/Russ/Rich and so on would do too Would love to see a BNP supporter come on here and post his views ^_^
September 7, 200915 yr How do you know there aren't any BNP supoorters on here now? No one has ever posted a thread supporting the BNP I would enjoy such a thread if anyone did Feel free to start one ;)
September 7, 200915 yr Even though they are the party for the 'working' class chav/spounging off the state Neanderthal, who would believe every bit of complete $h!t that comes out of The Sun or Daily Star and doesn't understand the contribution to immigrants have had to our society (a big proportion of the NHS is made up of docotors and nurses from other countries) or unable to comprehend that staying as alone island nation is regressive in an era of globalisation, I still believe that they should be allowed to view their opinions/policies.... ....only so that they can be humiliated on TV for putting forward such idiotic and backward policies.
September 7, 200915 yr I would say no, because I'm sure an appearence would convert some people towards them, because as much as a c**t Griffin is, he does get his point across and is a decent public speaker, even if he's completely wrong with everything he says. However, I doubt any one with the (lack of) mental capacity who does/would vote for the BNP would watch something like Question Time anyway.

September 8, 200915 yr A tough thing. As much as I despise the BNP and would love to see Griffin put up in front of a firing line, at the end of the day we live in a democracy where people can believe what they want whether I personally agree with it or not.. Whilst we may disagree with his views, we can't stop him from having them and therefore, yes, he should techncially be allowed to appear. However, there's then a question of MORALITY, what are we actually saying when we allow racist twats like him airtime? Although, it would be slightly amusing to see him get torn apart.
September 8, 200915 yr Well we had the chance to ban them ages ago but we didn't and now unfortunately they have a couple of seats in the European Parliment so can we really ban them now? Because of that mainly for the same reasons people have already said I believe we should allow Griffin to appear and then we can pray to god that it'll expose him and his party for what it really is.
September 8, 200915 yr Exactly, I think Griffin is trying to get another "this is unfair, the BNP is a legit party and look how we're treated". Either way this story is going to generate coverage for the party (and already has) so I say call his bluff and get the fat, bigoted f***er on QT and let him shoot himself down.
September 8, 200915 yr Of course they should. They're now allowing black people to join the party. No, they aren't. They're having a court injunction taken out against them for not allowing non-white people to join as legally they have to, and they have criticised this move - very very big difference.
September 9, 200915 yr Let them on there. To be honest, everytime they get a media platform they expose their true colours and make themselves look ridiculous, so bring it on i say ;)
