Groove Is In The Heart, classic chart-topper for me, deelightful retro but also fresh as a daisy! KLF's giant track oddly I didnt like as much as Kylie Said To Jason, possibly too much of a jolt from that, but later revamps would change my mind. The Joker nearly did it too as a fave oldie - as I charted it in early 1974 I felt somewhat justified that it had finally got to be a hit, "told you so" I said to myself as I dug out my copy to play😄 Jive Bunny was on the pub playlist (an earlier one though) last week on holiday, and I rather enjoyed it actually, though it might have been the bacardi and coke. 😇as for the other covers, Bobbie Gentry topped my charts and was the 4th single I ever bought, so there was no way Deacon Blue were going to compete with the great still-missing Bobbie - not seen or been heard of since 1982 - but it was pleasant enough, cant go wrong with Bacharach. Jason's was also a fairly pleasant cover of a great 60's record/song, Cliff ditto, though again it was the 60's hit for Herman's Hermits that I knew and loved.
