The Iranian response was classic saving face for a domestic audience. They have locked down the Internet and telecoms and control the tv. They can domestically project what they want to save face at home while not picking a fight with the US. Feels like a negotiated off ramp they could take to not be seen as weak and embolden internal opposition, letting out some frustration, and also showing the US that they are willing to strike out at their military installations if the us decides to press further. Seems to have been well received by the moulding kumquat. Honestly, much of the travel industry would be overjoyed if the airspace around Qatar and the UAE was suddenly problematic. Emirates, Etihad and Qatar have never made a single cent in profit between them but they’ve absolutely wrecked a lot of the legacy carriers. The tourist money would just migrate to Egypt or Saudi, and the hubs would relocate to either Istanbul or the old kangaroo model of Europe + Asia (eg start airport to Heathrow then Hong Kong or Bangkok or Singapore then onto your destination) If those three money laundering exercises masquerading as airlines could no longer fly effectively Qantas, Lufthansa, AF-KLM, Turkish, Malaysian, Cathy and Singapore would throw a party (while Trebling their fares overnight).
  3. The Script Kelly FTW!
  4. I think aside from the four newest songs I voted for - the Capaldi 'Forever' (not too surprised to be its only voter), 'Jerusalema', 'Canter' and 'Doin' Time' - the only other loss from my votes is 'Twist And Shout'. A couple of the Oasis casualties and Tame Impala's TLIKTB made my thinking, but I did vote for others of theirs still in. 'Ring Of Fire' is one that got away for me though - I clocked it when I first read through the list on my phone, but overlooked it when I went back over to make my shortlist! Would have been somewhere around my 15 points if I'd remembered so I fear that may have cost it advancing, but I'm glad so many of my actual votes are still in.
  5. I shed a tear seeing Spice Girls so low, but I know I’m in a minority who really adores Let Love Lead The Way (those ad libs…) Nice to see you give Same Old Brand New You some positive comments Great to see All Saints so high. A lot of great pop songs
  6. Aja’s appears to be some random meme person too. I just cannot see Lydia as Pete Burns, but I suppose good on her for at least trying a big personality. Ginger choosing someone Ru would know, but famous enough the general audience will know her still, and someone with a distinct and strong personality with a lot to build off, is exactly why she is so great at Snatch Game. Choosing the right person and appealing to Ru is most of the battle. I think Jorgeous as Pitnull is just stupid enough to work too, both of those I think are smart choices.
  7. Really enjoyed following this and re-living such a special year! ❤️
  8. KPop Demon Hunters is a new animated film on Netflix, in case anyone is wondering!

New summer single from Tyla out on Friday called 'IS IT'. Sounds big from the snippets! She also played a snippet of it at the Kids Choice Awards Pre-save here: tylawewannaparty.com
  10. Oop. Well hopefully it should function as intended for anyone who confirms from now on x I'll just delete the first Cheiron submission from the response form. Anyway, hooray for finally having another edition of this after a 4 year gap! And after that whole time I still don't have an entry in mind particularly ddd so will have to brainstorm x (16 out of 18 entries so far being recycled artists lel)
  11. Have something perfect for this I just discovered the other day! Confirmed!
  12. Yeah same for me. It’s still letting me submit again
  13. It still comes up with a blank form for me. 🤷
  14. Whoops I forgot to turn on the settings to allow response editing / limit to 1 response. Now fixed, what does it show when you click on the form now? Curious if it retroactively picks up one of your previous submissions and if so which one x

That seems harsh for Elio considering it has good reviews
  16. Working now for me too Now to go with it and what would look great is a shiny new shoutbox!

I’m rally surprised Benson isn’t doing better, his profile has increased significantly since he released his debut. Maybe it’ll hang around a bit longer but opening sales look a bit underwhelming.
  18. I went for Bob Dylan, Louise and Fifth Harmony
  19. This was a fun way to revisit these songs and the unique variety at #1 within one single year! It's perhaps testament to the strength at the top that there were so few #2 peakers in 2000, as that spot was usually taken up by one of the #1s dropping down - very few of them crashed out of sight after a single week at #1. 'Stan' is my favourite #1 of the year - even before its single release I remember it being talked up as a standout moment on the album, and the way the story is told really takes the listener through the emotions. That and 'Groovejet' are the remaining ones I bought in their opening weeks, the latter after it had been announced as #2 on Saturday's CD:UK - I was pretty pleased with the chart conclusion the next day. I appreciate the glass of water write-in for 'Don't Call Me Baby' though that and 'Pure Shores' would be a little lower for me - the latter is the one I'm fairly indifferent to that most of Buzzjack seems to love (something of a once per decade occurrence, see also 'Take On Me', 'Frozen', 'Midnight Sky', possibly a 2010s one too but those four are the most extreme), nice production and harmonies but it just kind of drifts by for me and I'd probably rank 'Black Coffee' above it as well as keeping 'Never Ever' as their signature hit. That just leaves 'Toca's Miracle', whose wonderful musical alchemy is soured for me only by its subsequent licensing saga - the re-recording is a game attempt but clearly a different voice - but back in the early 2000s when all seemed rosy, it soundtracked the time perfectly. Thanks Rich for this thread and your write-ups, always a great read!
  20. Just noticed on streaming all the song titles from to hell with it, the Take Me Home EP and all the standalone singles except for 'Turn it up' have changed from sentence case to standard case And cover art for 'Do You Miss Me?' changed. She's now facing to her right. In original one she was facing the other side and looking down. The 'Break It Off' cover art is also different! I love this type of indecisive and perfectionist behaviour
  21. Herbilore have confirmed something we hope will go down well
  22. Today
  23. Well this is just absolutely gorgeous. The attention to detail in the production too, a towering accompliment to Polachek's immense vocals. *.*
  24. The clue here was as follows: Warum is the German for Why. This song is under 3 minutes in length like a BJFest entry has to be. so why are we waiting a couple more weeks? BJFest 😁

I'd expect Sabrina to hang on this week but glad it's at least not looking like she'll be squatting at #1 for too long this time. 'Dior' would be a decent #1 (would be good for MK to finally get one as a named / primary artist, 12 years after 'Look Right Through' and as mentioned already 30 years into his chart career!) but I am really rooting for 'Love Me Not' to somehow still eventually get there, I notice the Rex Orange County version has re-entered the top 200 on Spotify today and it's actually ahead of 'Manchild' combined, although obviously MK has overtaken since First Look so it's not trending in the right direction. I did figure it was probably wishful thinking from me overrating the chances of HAIM beating YUNGBLUD for the #1 album but really thought it'd at least be closer than it is oops - HAIM should still get similar if not slightly higher opening sales to their last album though so could be worse, I just thought the Taylor Swift stimulus package since the release of 'Women In Music Pt. III' could put them in contention to be pushing some slightly higher numbers now. YUNGBLUD has actually just barely already beaten the opening sales of his last album (by 60 units!) - would need to do another 16k to match the opening of his 2020 album though. Good to see Loyle Carner keeping up well with his previous sales too and even Aitch is doing a bit better than I expected. I think Benson Boone is much more of a 'general public' artist than one with a particularly sizeable fanbase, his album will hang around longer than the other debuts but not too surprised that he isn't contending for #1.
  26. We’ve slipped something in. Not sure if will leave it or swap it.
  27. I’m loving the speed of this! Don’t like rate results that move at a snail’s pace (Been guilty of that myself). Sad to see Chuck Berry and Bon Iver go from my top 30 :(
