  1. Alvin and the Chipmunks for number one 😂
  2. 46. Frank Ocean- Lost (655 points) Writers: Christopher Breaux, James Ryan Ho, Micah Otano, Paul Shelton Producers: Malay, Frank Ocean, Om'Mas Keith UK chart peak: 44 (14 weeks in the top 100) Achieved platinum status on 25/03/2022, 2x platinum 02/02/2024 Top scorers: CianS 48, Cymro87 47, Julian_ 43, seven. 43 Lowest scorers: CowTzy 1, King Rollo 2, Severin 2, Slick 2 Taken from Frank's 2012 debut album Channel Orange, "Lost" is written from the perspective of a man using a woman as a drug mule. The track uses voice samples from the movie Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas. "Lost" is Frank's highest-charting solo single and most successful single in terms of sales, peaking in 2022 after TikTok virality and making 2022's year-end list. It would've easily made the top 40 had it been reset, too bad the "Kate Bush effect" hadn't taken place 4 months sooner...
  3. 47. John Denver- Take Me Home, Country Roads (630 points) Writers: Bill Danoff, Taffy Nivert, John Denver Producers: Milt Okun, Susan Ruskin UK chart peak: did not chart Achieved platinum status on 14/02/2020, 2x platinum 05/05/2023 Top scorers: CowTzy 50, jimwatts 47, rio309 44 Lowest scorers: dandy* 1, RabbitFurCoat 1, …ready for it 1 This country anthem was written by Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert while travelling in Maryland: Danoff chose to write about West Virginia after being inspired by his friend, actor Chris Sarandon, and members of a West Virginia commune. The two were going to give the track to Johnny Cash but John Denver stepped in last second and decided he had to have the song, helping to write the song's missing bridge. It became a number 2 hit in the US and one of the most beloved country songs ever, doing wonders for tourism in West Virginia. In the UK a version by Olivia Newton-John reached number 15 in 1972 and a cover by Hermes House Band reached number 7 in 2001. John's only top 40 hit was the number one "Annie's Song" but this track is now his biggest seller in the digital age.
  4. 48. Kendrick Lamar- Swimming Pools (Drank) (628 points) Writers: Kendrick Duckworth, Tyler Williams Producer: T-Minus UK chart peak: 57 (6 weeks in the top 100) Achieved platinum status on 17/01/2020, 2x platinum 03/05/2024 Top scorers: Brer 50, detonate 45, CianS 42, Jaz13music 42 Lowest scorers: GreyAsh 1, King Rollo 1, Severin 1 "Swimming Pools" is the first song from K-Dot to reach the UK top 100. Taken from his 2012 album Good Kid M.A.A.D. City, the track is credited with helping Kendrick break into the mainstream. The song details Kendrick's experiences with alcoholism and was a top 20 hit in the US.
  5. 49. Imagine Dragons- Believer (621 points) Writers: Dan Reynolds, Wayne Sermon, Ben McKee, Daniel Platzman, Robin Fredriksson, Mattias Larsson, Justin Tranter Producers: Mattman & Robin UK chart peak: 42 (34 weeks in the top 100) Achieved platinum status on 01/06/2018, 2x platinum 13/03/2020, 3x platinum 17/12/2021, 4x platinum 29/09/2023, 5x platinum 11/07/2025 Top scorers: Mack 46, CowTzy 45, detonate 44 Lowest scorers: Brer 1, Chez Wombat 1, Jade 1, Maestro 1, seven. 1 The biggest song released in the 21st century to miss the top 40 is this track from the Dragons which has been used in many adverts. Love or hate the Dragons they clearly have their fans as this is the 11th biggest song on worldwide Spotify. It is their biggest UK seller and has spent more time in the top 100 than any other non-top 40 single.
  6. 50. Rihanna- Love On The Brain (592 points) Writers: Fred Ball, Joseph Angel, Robyn Fenty Producer: Fred Ball UK chart peak: did not chart Achieved platinum status on 28/01/2022, 2x platinum 04/04/2025 Top scorers: detonate 50, Nick F1 50, …ready for it 47 Lowest scorers: Uls2000 1, Brer 2, dandy* 3, Jade 3 Coming in dead last place is the doo-wop inspired final single from Rihanna's 2016 album Anti. Fred Ball and Joseph Angel did not intend to give the song to Rihanna but Ball's Roc Nation manager Jay Brown loved the song and suggested they gave it to her. It reached number 5 in the US but failed to chart in the UK.

Hope Slide Away can hold on to the top 40! Wasn't expecting Soda Pop in the top 5, must be very strong on Amazon
  8. Is this a different indie chart to the one on the OCC website? Devil In Disguise is number 12 between Iron Man and War Pigs on their website
  9. Starting to count up votes tonight, albeit very slowly- plan to start results tomorrow evening so if you still want to vote you have an extra day! (@Brer don't let me down 🤭)
  10. Was seriously overestimating Dancing In The Dark! Will now add Rein Me In as another potential new entry in the coming weeks, didn't think it was doing so well before the remix. Think Sapphire will be the next new entry for sure now
  11. Ooh good to see a re-entry at a new peak for "Under The Bridge" on Spotify ❤️
  12. "Jarvis, write me an essay about why Buzzjack doesn't like Ordinary"
  13. VOTING IS NOW CLOSED! Though I will still be accepting late votes- got a lot on this week so not sure when I will be able to tally them up. Keep voting if you so wish, me posting number 50 in the results will count as the official closing. @Cymro87 you still have time to edit "Heads Will Roll" into your votes. If you don't get round to it I'll sub it in for your lower vote for "In My Life"- sorry if that's not the score you would give but I feel that's fairer than excluding your vote from the rate. Thanks everyone!
  14. Never got the immense amounts of love for Ordinary nor have I got the immense amounts of hatred for it. It's as 5/10 as it gets. It's not the second coming of Christ nor is it a crime against music... I will not be putting respect on Alex's name and I will not be calling him evil because his mediocre song has been number one for eons. Some of the discourse has been interesting/funny but it's just getting exhausting now and I hope the song just goes away ASAP

Ooh "Slide Away" in with a chance of charting for the first time!
