  5. yes thank you
  6. when is the deadline exactly, either I’ve forgotten how to read or it’s not in the first post (sometime before Tuesday I’m assuming x) edit: never mind
  7. already dnq’ed but just wanna get this thread up and running again bjsc 181 | cameron winter – nausicaä (love will be revealed) from heavy metal (2024) not to delve too hard into the #discourse but a big part of cameron winter’s appeal for me is his off-kilter voice, very reminiscent of indie vocalists of decades past. jeff mangum of neutral milk hotel is one that gets mentioned a lot, but i hear a lot of 00s indie here too. the clap your hands say yeah dude is one, dan boeckner from wolf parade is another. the blogs would’ve eaten him up in 2006.
  8. Oh lmao. Oop
  9. It’s the 15% deduction, though considering how low it is it wouldn’t have been much higher without it, but I’m not worried! And yeah idt anyone here cares about the discourse either lol, it’s just that I happened to tweet about geese once regrettably and now the algo thinks I want to see 15 tweet threads about them
  10. It was mostly from twitter when I was still scrolling semi regularly a few months ago but half of it was the memes (Cameron winter performative male music fan starter pack 🤣) half of it was just the breathless discourse about what they mean for the culture or whatever and im just like: they’re a good band maybe im just hyper aware of it bc of algorithms but something happened after brat that has made hype/backlash cycles more relentless and annoying lol
  11. I was very prepared to dnq because I don’t believe geese/cam winter have as big of a following here as elsewhere and if there is I think there is some general backlash/fatigue anyway… mostly because the discourse surrounding them is annoying as f*** so I’ve kind of just been listening to them quietly and not really participating in any of it Anyway I have Bjsc bait for next month and then pagasa-core for the month after that (if UP doesn’t start before then) so I’m happy to get on with the final and on to the next contest
  12. ooh .. intrigue

feels kind of on the nose to put a bunch of punk songs here bc they’re meant to be short and sweet, but i just wanted to highlight the second half of Jeff rosenstock’s album WORRY. bc it blows me away every time i listen. 9 songs, almost all under 2 minutes, all bleeding into each other into a kind of medley of different types of punk and alt: hardcore punk, ska, etc. and they all dovetail into the emotional core of the album, which is…just giving a f*** and letting yourself love in the face of unimaginable horror. the album was released 10 years ago so it’s very of its time in that regard, very Trump 1.0, mid-10s #posi, and it’s really easy to feel jaded about it now, but the sentiments at the heart of the album still hold true even now, despite everything. and it includes the most affecting song Jeff’s ever written probably, “while you’re alive”. Jeff was the first show i went to after the pandemic and i shed tears when he played it. but anyway, i made a playlist of just the medley but the whole album is highly recommended: “love is worry”
  14. Yeah I do not trust her at all, it reads as an opportunist trying to get ahead of a shifting tide, and her whole thing is still like nativist economic populism. to trust her would be like allying with the people on the right who jumped on pro-Palestine not necessarily bc they care about the plight of palestinians but bc they believe in the Jewish world order or whatever tf At this point I would welcome the rest of nato to bomb us
