Posted September 15, 20195 yr @1173279635678924800 👏👏👏👏 We see it far too many times when a song's success influences how people view it in terms of their enjoyment. Of course it's a bonus, but this comment from her is so spot on!
September 15, 20195 yr This is such a great attitude! I must admit that it's fantastic to be a fan of Ariana for many reasons and one is that she does often find success with her material. The 'will 'Don't Call Me Angel' get to #1?' edge of the single campaign adds excitement to it, it's a real bonus. But ultimately, I will always value quality over success too.
September 16, 20195 yr Hire me, Ariana *.* I agree with her though! I don't let a chart position affect my enjoyment of the song, certainly not anymore. Maybe years ago when I was more chart obsessed I was sometimes guilty of this. Let's say I'd not exactly get much enjoyment out of being a Carly Rae Jepsen fan if I cared too deeply about the charts nowadays lol~
September 16, 20195 yr Going by chart positions Two of Arianas #1s (out of her 5 UK #1s to date) are some of my least favourite of her tracks. So with Ariana some of my favourite tracks by her are either album tracks or smashes what missed #1. Sometimes it’s hard though to not get caught up in the get this to #1 type talk especially when it’s an artist like Ariana who actually stands a chance of doing so with other people I love though I’d be thrilled if they even made top ten. But a song being a #1 song wouldn’t make me suddenly love it if I wasn’t keen on it before hand, same as I wouldn’t dislike something I loved if it missed the top 40 Like Love Me Harder still snaps hard for me! May 13, 20205 yr I feel like her being HUGE for the last two years can be a curse as well because everyone now has unrealistic expectations  She's doing just fine, #1 or not.
May 13, 20205 yr Her stance on it is absolutely the correct stance to have imo. If it's a huge number 1, then bonus! But it really, REALLY shouldn't dictate how you feel about the song. I REALLY need her to be number 1 over what is currently looking like the more likely option though :puke: :puke: He really shouldn't be allowed to be able to profit anything after being convicted of the crimes he did... but hey, that's a whole other topic of conversation!
May 13, 20205 yr I love what she said there  I’m sort of one of those fans at times as well who’s like I hope this goes to #1 (I’ve done it a lot with Chromatica and that ain’t even out) but it doesn’t necessarily change my thoughts on a song it’s just like an added bonus. But bc she’s had such extreme success recently it feels like her fans just want that to continue and it will as well! Plus often #1 isn’t necessarily a first week kinda thing especially in the US when typically songs take even longer to peak there than they do here.

May 14, 20205 yr Isn't this the same post as the original post? Oh yeah the instagram post that was quoted from the fan was oops but there was a new tweet from Ariana and ofc she’s now deleted it 🙃
May 14, 20205 yr She was discussing it on her Instagram stories too but that's been deleted as well. She said at the end that she hoped Doja, Megan or The Weeknd gets the #1. I enjoyed the omission of a certain other artist. View this post on Instagram
May 14, 20205 yr Cackling that an ariana_deleted account exists  her fans know her too well. Thanks for that Lewis because the context in my post has disappeared now  I enjoyed the omission of a certain other artist. Living for the deserved shade :cheeseblock:
May 14, 20205 yr This is a healthy attitude to have and unfortunately there are a lot of (probably younger) pop fans who are OBSESSED with chart positions. It must be quite unpleasant for the popstars themselves to read when they really love the music they're making and want it to impact on people in a positive way. Edited May 14, 20205 yr by Slick
