But if we're expected to accept Heidi and Amelle as suitable replacements (i.e. the band is still as good with Heidi as it was with Siobhan), doesn't that make them AS competent, and AS vaild members as the originials?

Well tbf when Heidi joined they weren't household names but Mutya was the best personality in the group and I think the group suffered when she left. But Keisha held their appeal together as she was the last remaining original member so how can they be the Sugababes without her exactly?

Because what I'm suggesting is that when Heidi/Amelle joined, they were presented to us as adequate replacements for the originials - i.e. they were the new originials / just as good / the same etc. If we swallowed that then, why can't we now? If we didn't, then the whole thing has been farcical since 2001?

 

I don't think you can really say 'as long as one of them was there it was still the Sugababes' ... it should be all or nothing, and by that logic, they haven't been the original Sugababes since Siobhan left, making this sort of a a non-point?

Such a shame the last original member has left. I agree that they should now change their name now since they are no longer the Sugababes.

Heidi, Mutya and Keisha was the formation that gave the Sugababes a much needed boost in the charts and started having platinum singles and albums and was the time they became household names! So Heidi, has enough right to carry the name on just as much as Keisha and Mutya did imo.

I think the Mutya account is fake but I'm sure if it were real she would say similar lol.

Hmm...totally disappointed in this. Keisha was the only essential member left in the group, the only person keeping there something in common between their first album and their current material. Without her it just can't work. I'm sure I'll enjoy their music as I've always loved Heidi, Jade is really talented and the other one can sing okay I guess. But I'll certainly be listening to this product with a bitter taste, unless they change their name and album title.

 

I just can't believe that she was driven out by management and the other members, I would have expected Heidi to defend her at least. I'm gonna guess that it was Amelle and Keisha arguing over her comments in that newspaper and perhaps accusations over jealousy regarding "Never Leave You". (that tweet from Keisha about partying with Amelle when it got to #1 seemed to have something behind it) It certainly goes with these ideas that she was chucked out for being too outspoken and hard to control.

 

I guess you can't blame Jade for joining them. Her single was getting practically no airplay, and her solo project was set to go down the pan (despite it all sounding great) until all of this. So you just would join one of the most successful British girl groups. I just don't know if I'd feel right to replace the only original, it seems like a poisoned chalice. The fans will automatically resent her for replacing 'THE ONE', so it might be like joining a sinking ship?

 

It's just all a bit weird now, it's the equivalent to Michelle Williams staging a Destiny's Child reunion with two new girls instead of Beyoncé and Kelly.

But Jonjo - Heidi wasnt an ORIGINAL Babe.. all of the ORIGINALS are gone which is why they surely cant carry on the name?!

Well yes, she did, but she'll still never be an original. Plus, "Overload" is certainly one of their classics for me. One of their best songs throughout their career imo.

 

This should be the worst thing that could have happened to them. Someone said it earlier, it's just wrong that the Sugababes started off as Keisha, Mutya and Siobhan and now three different women are being marketed as that group. Hopefully they'll get a name change and everything will move along sweetly.

 

I really hope the solo career goes well for Keisha, she's a very driven woman. I'm shocked that she's only 24 and she's already accomplished so much in that group, she's still got a lot of miles in her yet.

As much as I love Heidi, she is not an original.. you can't just wipe out Siobhan because they hadn't had a number 1 single with her.. they had three Top 20 singles with her in the band.. 'Overload' and 'Run For Cover' are possibly two of their best songs.. 'Overload' was the song that started their edgy urban pop-ness...

 

I feel its wrong for them to carry on as 'Sugababes' ... but we'll see! I do like Jade, so I'm not gonna start this, I hate Jade campaign, we'll see what she has to offer!

As far as i know that page is a fake.

I'm sure Keisha and Mutya will feel strongly about what's happened to what is really their group. Good on Mutya for speaking her mind - it's that sort of attitude which built the Sugas in the first place - not this generic factory dance pop they're churning out now.
