Didn't Orson sell more than 17,964 in the three weeks either side of it hitting #1?

Thats true. They'd sold more copies the week they were at no.5 So doesn't deserve to have the lowest no.1 sales ever.

What's the Deee-Lite/Steve Miller thing? Did they have identical sales?? If so then aren't all these other examples a bit pointless cos that would be the smallest gap between Number 1 singles (ie zero copies)?

I know that. That is why I said at the beginning APART from the Dee-Lite/Steve Miller thing at the sub-title of the forum. Also, zero is not really a gap, in my opinion.

I think I read somewhere on here a couple of days ago, Christina Aguilera just missed out on a number 1 with 'Ain't No Other Man'. I could be wrong though as I can't remember exactly what was said LOL.

In actual fact there was 8 copies between them in sales, not zero as is commonly thought. The zero figure comes from the panel sales, though when multiplied up this equates to a difference of 8.

She missed out on no.1 by 713 sales, which is pretty close.

I do believe the closest top 2 this year was when Lady GaGa pipped Flo Rida and Ke$ha to their promised second non-consecuitve week at #1 by I believe a little over 100 copies.

As already mentiones, the closest top 2 albums was also involving GaGa - GaGa sold 4 more than Doves. I'm still mad about that.

That was probably me. :P

Sales were incredibly tight in that whole area that week as she started off at #4 in the midweeks with it, and as someone said, she missed the top spot by 713 copies in the end.

I also mentioned earlier Leona's 'A Moment Like This' just pipping Eric Prydz's 'Physical Education' to the top. I looked into that and it was by... 91 copies.

EURGH! Can't believe Kanye West JUST won! :puke2: 'With Every Heartbeat' deserved another week at least at number 1 :(
And what would be the smallest gap between a #1 and say, a #5 or a #10? Or even a #40?
Duffy's Mercy kept Leona's Better In Time from the top spot by 453 copies too.

i thought it was 302 copies??
