I think everyone is surprised that Leona's album is not selling as everyone had predicted. Even like 3 months ago, some folk would say it would be the best selling album of 2009. I wonder what went wrong...

I presume it all goes down to a weak first single sellection.

Still cant believe how jls have sold and held up. Don't like them but props to them for it.

hmmm i know. I think Happy is a big bit to do with it. The album is hardly dropping like a stone though. if it was just about any other artist they'd be saying it was doing really well. Spirit era was a special case. That initial fervour was never gonna last, it doesn't for any artist. Lets see how SuBo is doing by album 3, or even album 2 for example. She's still doing really well, and Echo is a more accomplished record than Spirit, she should be proud. Ironically it has more soul...

 

Any chance of any sales today? Wondering about top2 singles and top5 albums as sure everyone else is tbh

Still with a 3rd and 4th single there looking at a million selling album, with sales way above leona, alex, cheryl. Who would have thought they would outsell those 3 and by so many copies?

Oh yes... I am absolutely shocked by Alex's first album... It's her first release after winning x-factor and should be in top 10 b4 xmas... looks like people are not that interested.... it's a female version of Leon Jackson, I believe.

You cannot possibly tell whose album will have long term sales and I bet it will not be JLS.Alex and Leona have released 1 song this year while JLS have been building their fanbase steadily throughout the year after 2 singles.Badboys was never going to be an album selling song that is why there will be at least 4 more singles released from Overcome.Plus based on figures for who is doing better on sales for 2 singles and 1 album which Alex and JLS have both released Alex has sold over 2 milllion units while JLS are around over 1 million.Their was clearly a huge niche in the market for a boyband and good on JLS for filling it but lets not kid ourselves. Boybands do not have a long shelf life they will find it hard to move beyond a teen girl market.

Don't think so - a female Leon Jackson would have got into the top 10 (not #1) and dropped like a bomb, failing to sell 200k in total despite being released during Xmas. Alex achieved neither of these, and in addition had a massive hit single (second biggest #1 sales of the year for non-charity record), again which Jackson didn't.

Surely both of these can't be at #36? :unsure:
