December 17, 200916 yr Yeah that's my point....both are as bad as each other. It's a bit hypocritical in my opinion.
December 17, 200916 yr Author Is anyone else having problems with MW I can't get into the data section
December 17, 200916 yr So by my reckoning Rage sold 78k yesterday and Joe sold 106k. Is that right? EDIT: We were typing at the same time Britster. My maths is ok though so it seems. If sales follow a similar pattern Joe will overtake at the weekend then. Edited December 17, 200916 yr by chinatoy
December 17, 200916 yr If Simon really releases a rush EP for Joe on Friday, I am gonna contact Ofcom and complain to the OCC, as X Factor already gets enough favour as it is.
December 17, 200916 yr If everyone loved the Climb why didnt they buy it when Miley Cyrus released it? Exactly, while most of the people who buy RATM now were damn toddlers when it first came out :teresa:
December 17, 200916 yr I mean, I dont like either song but Id rather RATM went to number 1 for shock value and to annoy Simon and Cheryl
December 17, 200916 yr Is anyone else having problems with MW I can't get into the data section I can't get on either
December 17, 200916 yr Author Great my session has expired, what the f*** this normally happens on a Friday
December 17, 200916 yr Exactly, while most of the people who buy RATM now were damn toddlers when it first came out :teresa: People seem to be getting confused here - CHART SUCCESS DOES NOT MAKE YOU A GOOD ARTIST AND LACK OF CHART SUCCESS DOES NOT MAKE YOU A BAD ONE. Rage are not an act that care about their position in the charts, they stand on an anti establishment basis and have a huge fanbase who couldnt give a $h!t if they reached#25 in 1992. I reitterate my point; yes alot of people are buying it now because theyre objecting to Cowell but ALOT MORE PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT RAGE ACTUALLY LIKE THEIR MUSIC. Everyone I know who is backing the campaign has been a fan of rage for years, and even if they havent been a fan of Rage and are just buying it because theyre told to; I agree it's a little ironic but they still understand why we should buy Rage and what Rage stand for. I'm not ranting at you by the WAY, I just quoted your post :P
December 17, 200916 yr Author Has someone just gone and hacked MW, its like the site is not even loading up
December 17, 200916 yr Has someone just gone and hacked MW, its like the site is not even loading up I presume it is overloaded because of the huge amount of interest.
December 17, 200916 yr Using the figures from the article above:Rage sold approximately 78k, for a total of 253kJoe sold approximately 106k yesterday (of which 80k were from the CD single), for a total of 216kFor comparison, Alexandre Burke sold approximately 104k on the equivalent day after her CD single was released. 78k of RATM on download, 26k of Joe on download... gosh, scrap the physical market if this is the case.
December 17, 200916 yr If Simon really releases a rush EP for Joe on Friday, I am gonna contact Ofcom and complain to the OCC, as X Factor already gets enough favour as it is. Oh seriously, put your toys back in the pram and stop crying wolf everytime something happens that you don't like. :P We should all be celebrating the fact that we have a genuine chart battle on our hands (which I, for one, find exciting) and it really can still go either way on Sunday. I still can't call it - I keep thinking we'll know more in the next set of mids but Wednesday's and Thursday's mids have made it even more tight and tomorrow's might give us a better indication but then again they might not.
December 17, 200916 yr I think you'll find people would be supporting the rage campaign regardless of who won won the X-Factor and the particular monstrosity they unleashed. Then I really wonder if Leona is the winner this year, will she be treated a different way??? serious this thing gets uglier... and certainly Simon will do everything to SAVE this CHRISTMAS...lol for himself... cleary you can't fight this down with a man who can manipulate the chart more than the public can do... and we can see the physicals are just getting started....more and more EPs will be sold...while there's no physical support on RATM... this will be the closest gap for the Christmas chart...but it still looks good for Joe cuz the sales of RATM is going down but Joe is going up
December 17, 200916 yr But conversly chart success does not make you a bad act and lack of it a good one. how do you define 'good' or 'bad'?. isnt it just down to personal choice?. Not being argumentative, but this argument does work both ways imo..just my 2 penneth :)
December 17, 200916 yr 78k of RATM on download, 26k of Joe on download... gosh, scrap the physical market if this is the case. The physical market has as much validity as downloads, if not more because the price to purchase is more. Why scrap a the traditional, and perfectly valid way of purchasing music? I, for one, cannot see a reason? (perhaps because you didn't give one...)
December 17, 200916 yr RATM have no real chance of beating X-Factor to number 1 this week. I have just spoken to my bookie, and he is only offering 1/4 on Joe. This, in a 2 horse race, is what's known as a 'dead cert'. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but I think most music 'insiders' already know this but they want to keep the 'illusion' alive. After all, if they can keep the hype going, it's more money in the pocket for them isn't it?
December 17, 200916 yr I really hate how X Factor dominates the UK chart I really hate that the Christmas number 1 is/was always the X Factor winner I really hate though the campaign against the X Factor too. Awful top 2, and I'm really not interested in the chart this week, because it is "fixed". This is really not what the Christmas chart should look like and this really ruins my fanatism into charts. Plus to see these two songs also in the Year-end chart quite high is scandalous. That's my opinion :(
